There were so many emotions that surged across Abby’s rather expressive face that Rachel wasn’t quite sure where to begin – at least it seemed like a good plan to stick to the routine that the young woman was currently familiar with. Speaking about the boy, however, was what seemed to truly set her adrift. “We’ll make it work as smoothly as we can. And in the meantime, my office door is always open, alright?”
Rachel nodded when Abby mentioned that Lucas had been teaching her how to handle a knife, since she wasn’t comfortable with guns. “I’m personally better trained with firearms, but I can handle blades fairly well, too. If that’s what you’ve been working on, we’ll keep that a component of your weapon’s training to start, though I’ll be doing a lot of defensive combat training with you as well. Once you get a little more comfortable with me, we’ll incorporate some different things into your routine.”
