“Let’s do our best not to find out what happens to you if a clone dies,” Holly said quickly, because if there was an emotional and mental impact to absorbing a damaged clone, she didn’t like the thought of what the impact might be to Jett if something more serious were to happen. That being said, she did wonder if the impact would be lessened should he be prevented from absorbing a clone that had died, or if the absorption process was paramount to Jett’s overall wellbeing.
“I’ll be making sure he understand that boybands aren’t formed through kidnapping,” she informed him, though the look on her face indicated just how much she had never thought she would be saying something like that. Because honestly, who even did that? She understood that some of the people here were… damaged. But that was taking things a step too far. She would have to have a serious conversation about boundaries. “And that kidnapping, in general, is completely off the table.”
She rubbed her hand over her face. “Sweets make everything better,” she told him with a wink, tired though it was before she added, genuinely, “I’m sorry I wasn’t here to stop it, Jett.”
