Jade was startled when the man stepped away, mid-sentence, and she stared at the empty space he’d previously occupied. Out of the corner of her eye she saw him chatting to someone who worked on the range, so she awkwardly swept her gaze back to his target and admired his precision.
When he returned to demonstrate what he meant, Jade kept her focus on the targets as they began moving. She had to step out of Ethan’s way, as he didn’t remain stationary; his foot-falls expressed just how familiar this was. His movements were graceful, controlled, and impressive, and Jade had a difficult time shifting her focus from how he moved to the targets his arrows were puncturing.
Once the dance was complete and Ethan had the targets flying closer so she could get a better look, she laughed softly, her expression conveying quite clearly that she was impressed. “Woah – damn!” She leaned in closer, glancing at each target with arrows piercing through their kill-shots. “Pretty useful ability,” she replied, glancing his way, “Does it work with darts, too? You’d clean up in a tournament.”
Finally, she realized she hadn’t even introduced herself. With a small smile, she extended her hand towards him. “I’m Jade.”
