Full names were probably weird like that, she never had that issue. She was sure she'd been named just for that. Jade was the same. Their names were just that, couldn't be shortened into something else. Ruby kind of liked it -people called her Rubes, which was weird, since it was longer than her name, but it hardly bothered her.
Ruby got the use of punching bags for learning, hard to figure out how to punch without punching something. She learned how to fight and defend herself in high school, when there was this big awareness thing going on after a bunch of jocks got jumped by a neighbouring school. And Jade made sure Ruby knew how to land some blows.
But after that, punching the bags was just... monotonous. "Yeah, it's better with an opponent. Or, like... projectiles." There was no way she'd offer to spar with Theo, the guy could probably lift more with one arm than Ruby weighed. But there were stupid foam shit from classes or whatever in the corner. "If you want?" She shrugged, trying to make it look like she wasn't already bored of her own attempts at working out, but that was really the gist of things.
