Thatcher gave a slight shake of his head as Murk's words rolled out off the younger man's tongue. It wasn't that Thatcher denied his daughter less then healthy food, he did allow it. What he didn't allow was to let his daughter overindulge in the foods that were basically bad for a person. He wasn't that controlling over his daughter's eating habits.
"What my daughter needs is a well balanced diet." He corrected the younger man. "Which I just happen to provide for her. And which, as you previously mentioned, does include sweets and stuff." Thatcher told Murk. And not in an offense tone. He, in fact, spoke it all in a pleasant tone that wouldn't be taken defensively by most people.
"Not many can live on beer and smokes alone." Thatcher dared to point out to the younger man. Not that Murk needed to have it pointed out to him. He was old enough to make choices of his own, and if Murk wanted to regulate his diet to alcohol and cigarettes, well that was the man's choice. And the younger man seemed to be doing well for himself, so how Murk sustained himself, well that really was his own business. At least for the most part.
