- JADE, VASILY, SANDY, ASH -
As the wolf lunged at the man and snapped his arm back, one of the kids that had been lagging turned to watch and screamed in fright, first at the fire streaming towards them and then at the fact that the bloodied man's arm was being ripped backwards by a large, vicious looking dog. Sandy's knees buckled and she nearly fell over as the scream set the other kids off, those spiralled thoughts knocking her own concentration meaning that she stopped blocking their hearing.
The super was cursing the wolf out, trying to get free and the escalating thoughts were causing Sandy's powers to overload her own mind. She caught herself on the wall, just beside the portal having not quite walked through it yet. Her nose started to bleed, a thin stream from one nostril, her skin went pallid and she swayed on the spot, tightening her grip on the little girl she had in her arms.
She had to get out of here.
Vasily's words filtered into her head but it took her almost a minute to respond to him.
[Handler Frost? Handler Page?] she called, [Do you guys want this super alive?]
In the van, Holly's eyes narrowed when she heard Sandy's voice in her head and put her phone down, nudging Lucas' arm to draw his attention to the conversation at hand. She didn't know how she felt about responding telepathically, so she lifted her hand to turn on her communicator.
"Alive," she said, "but make sure he's unconscious. Don't want him doing anything that might upset his travel to where we can question him properly."
[Alive.] Sandy told Vasily, knowing that his communicator wasn't working since he was in his animal form. She wiped a hand under her nose, but it did little to stem the blood.
"C'mon, let's get you guys home," she said to the kids, trying to get their attention back but it was hard: they were all afraid but thankfully had crowded closer to her and Jade when Vasily had taken the fire-super down.
She stepped through the portal, but as she did, her knees officially gave out and she managed to put the little girl down before she dropped her, hands hitting the dirt to catch herself.
