- JADE, VASILY, SANDY, ASH -
When the crew at the front finally came to a halt in front of a pair of double doors, she kept her back to them and remained focused on the darkness behind. Still no silhouettes, no indication that there was anything amiss or dangerous nearby. If there was anything threatening, it was likely going to be found on the other side of those doors.
She caught Ash’s transformation out of the corner of her eye and was once again astounded by the capabilities of some of her comrades; not just on this mission, but at the facility generally. All of them were capable of such extraordinary things.
At Ash’s question, the teleporter gave one last look at their back and, determining it was clear, she returned attention to the team. “I’m going to open a portal allowing us all to get into the room without using the door; Chameleon and Wild Thing, you two are in first and Override and I will follow. The priority is to neutralize the guards and cover the kids. Once the ‘big gun,’” she glanced at Override, “Isn’t in play, then we extract the kids through another portal to rendezvous with Frost and Page.” She glanced around their faces (and it was, surprisingly, not so difficult to gage the comprehension of Wild Thing in this form), waiting for recognition and agreement.
When it seemed everyone was on the same page, she nodded. “Here goes.”
Her free hand un-balled from a fist and from the tips of her fingers, purple sparks crackled. Beside the group, a portal ripped open, allowing them the opportunity to step into the room they stood before—but behind the guards who were poised and anticipating an attack from the door.
