- JADE, VASILY, SANDY, ASH -
She cast one last glance over her shoulder. The crackling, purple-tinged edges of her portal—the rip in space—were beginning to shrink. On the other side, she could still see the backs of the other four agents, all sent to canvas the right side of the warehouse. Except for Frost and Page in their oh-so-inconspicuous van, they were on their own now. Jade curled her hand into a tight fist, and as her palm closed, the portal became smaller until, finally, there was nothing but a crappy warehouse.
The whole thing was enraging. Kidnapping a group of kids and slapping the blame on Supers to continue to steam the fear-mongering propaganda engine? Jade wasn’t sure why it surprised her. It shouldn’t. When the SEA failed to pass, they all should have known something like this would happen—and that it would keep happening.
As the last one out of her portal, Jade brought up the rear of the group. Her firearm was drawn, though lowered; with kids being involved, it didn’t seem ideal to rely on offensive tactics when she had more defensive abilities in her arsenal. “Once you guys,” she was referring to Vasily and Sandy, who in her estimation had the best chances of locating the kids, and quickly, “Figure out where they are, it should be a quick job to get them out. Nobody would even have to know we were here.”
