The hope that SEA would go through is what most people wished for. The hope that the Regiment would be dismantled for it. Lucas was sure even some handlers carried the hope for it as well. The ones that hated sending people off and having their agents replaced only to have to act like they weren't even there to begin with. The Regiment treated supers like nothing but cannon fodder -- a truth Lucas had become far too intimate with and a truth that he had once ignored for the sake of looking good for those in the higher in the ranks. He had, for the most part, been very convincing in his work. He had believed the lie once that they were doing good in the world by taking supers off the streets. Now he couldn't even wash his hands clean of their blood.
He had told himself, once, that he would check on the supers he had caught once the veil had been lifted over his eyes and the disenchantment had worn off. He could never bring himself to do so. One of them had been in Limbo and was one of the first agent losses he had witnessed. He could remember that moment, how callus the other handlers had been and already speaking of their replacement while he did everything in his power to hold it all in. By the time he had gotten some privacy he'd vomited in a waste basket before burying his head in his hands.
Guilt didn't mean anything however. He was sure the supers knew they deserved to feel the guilt weighing down on him. He knew he probably did but at the same time...he was trying to do some good with what he had but maybe it was too little, too late. "A twisted one. But it does have a sense of humor, yes." He looked down to sign off the transfer forms before handing it off to the transporter. "Don't worry about your things, they'll take it to your new room."
He motioned for her to follow him as he started over to the door. "I assume you know the Regiments rules and regulations so for sake of saving my breathe...I won't go over them. I'll just take you on the tour." Lucas didn't bother turning to look at her. He knew the guilt would be well worn in his eyes. "My expectations for my agents are very clear...I expect you to perform. You don't and you're in solitary for a month except for missions. If you act out believe it when I tell you I do have control over your limiter...and I do not have really care if I have to use it generously."
