Alex laughed softly at Mike's confirmation that in this sense, unique was a good word. She decided not to argue with him on that point; she'd learn soon enough if Connor Castle was unique in a good way or a bad one. She would have to, the man was to be her other handler - and that word seemed inappropriate the more she thought about it - and she needed to know how to work with them both. She supposed the teams that had two handlers were either more of a handful or those running them needed the support of the other, but that wasn't a question she felt comfortable posing just yet.
"How do you train a power like mine without using it on someone?" she asked, "I have no desire to use it on you, or my colleagues... it feels like a violation, even with permission. I know I need to practise; I assume using an ability of any kind is like training a muscle. I just... I feel uncomfortable with it."
She tilted her head, realisation clearly crossing her features as he spoke about how her powers could be used for good and it was clear that she hadn't even considered that; hadn't considered that there was another use, diffusing difficult situations, saving lives... That she could do something to help people who were less fortunate and had their powers running out of their control... It wasn't just that, she had the ability to negate powers too, which she supposed would come in handy.
"And you've been briefed on my whole power set?" she asked because she knew it but she didn't know if anyone else did. She wasn't sure how it worked.
At the mention of an agent having been kidnapped, Alex chewed her lower lip. "At least the missions are mostly domestic," she supposed, "are they optional or do we get put on them whether we want to be or not?"
