Mike wasn’t just telling Alex about the hologym. He was gushing about it.
In fact, after a few moments of explaining the basics of how the place worked, he started belaboring the technical elements; providing a way-too-detailed explanation with over-zealous hand-gestures. “It’s really fascinating,” he concluded, shoving his hands into his pockets as he glanced around the room. “I wish I could say I had a hand in helping to develop it, but I’m not quite there yet. Maybe one day.”
Although, when he looked at Alex a little closer, he had to contend with the fact that maybe she didn’t find it quite as fascinating as he did. He smiled, kindly, at her question, and nodded. “Right! Well, it’s a group of people who’s training is overseen by a handler –,” he smiled wider, gesturing to himself, “Or two, in this case. But in addition to that, we’re also your advocates here. To make sure that you’re as well looked-after by the Regiment as possible.”
He gestured towards a nearby bench, indicating that she ought to take a seat. Michael did so first, hopefully giving her enough room to have space of her own on the bench, too. “To be perfectly honest, Castle is much more capable at the physical training business, and I’m a little greener at this than he is. But I’ll do my best to make sure you’re trained, ready, and treated as fairly as possible, given the circumstances.”
