Honestly, it hurt to look at her. She looked so uncomfortable, anxious, and miserable. He moved to raise his hand to stop her from turning on the light but it was a little too slow. He watched her wringing her hands as she tried to express what she was thinking and feeling. Her wings looked uncomfortable at the least, cramped at worst.
Marshall slowly moved closer toward her. First thing was first. He turned off the light. He could see her well enough in the dark. Besides, it's not like he was worried about her attacking him. She was literally far more afraid of him than he probably ever would be of her. Once the light was off, he carefully sat down on the ground where he was.
It hurt hearing her so distressed. He wondered how his own siblings managed when they were first brought to a facility. Max would have been separated from Josephine once he was of age, so they wouldn't even have had the comfort of each other. And god only knew where their father was. Only thing Marshall was really sure of for any of them was that they were alive and active agents. It wasn't from a lack of ability and resources... more it was the temptation of it all. If he knew, if he really got the chance, he wasn't sure he could avoid helping them escape.
It was tempting enough with ordinary people like Juniper.
"I know you want to go home." He did his best to reach out for her hands to take them in his own. The talons didn't bother him. "It's not home. It can never be home. It's hell here Juniper. For someone like you... I'm sorry... I truly am."
