Re: Charlie & Marshall
Romance wasn't exactly the top of his list. Marshall had someone he had loved very much, but in his attempts to track down his siblings and father in the system--as well as take care of his mother--he knew he just didn't have the time he wanted to give her, and certainly not the time she deserved. In another life, he could have seen himself settling down with Quinn, having children, living a normal life.
Instead here he was, watching a bunch of adults on a real, genuine, field day because of the misfortune of them having powers that others were too terrified to deal with. Considering how much the others seemed to be enjoying it? It was worth all the headaches and hair pulling to bring this all together. They were ael to be normal and enjoy themselves, if only for a few others.
Marshall was distracted, watching the perimeter, trying to keep in touch with authorities keeping the gates for both possible escape attempts as well as normal humans who might try to get in... or hurt the agents. He only noticed Charlie after she started speaking to him.
"Exactly," he replied with a knowing smirk. It was far from the coldest, considering it was nearly 45 degrees, but all the same, it was not the welcome temperate of the facility. "I thought, let me look up the coldest day in February in the farmer's almanac to see how this could go."
He finally noticed Bear fighting the fish in the water and couldn't help but laugh at the other man. Yup. He'd definitely have to own up to that once they were back. Worth. Every. Penny.
"Thank you for coming all the same," he said far more genuinely. "They needed this." He needed it to, even if he didn't realize it.
