"Yes." That was a bit of an understatement. How could you really describe a relationship like their? Literally, nothing was off limits. The best, the worst, all the joy and all the pain either had experienced was shared between them. Sex was an awkward thing because the other person was there, even if they weren't physically present. Tuning out only offered limited assistance.
Cam could feel how close she was to tears and carefully adjusted her aura. She wanted Mira to react, but to not fall into the despair that she had already felt that morning from Jag.
"Tired, right now." She gave an awkward little smile. "Nightmare last night... one we haven't had in years." The we had slipped, but for them, it was second nature. "Otherwise, he's managing. We're adjusting. It would have been nice to be assigned to the same unit, to be closer. It's... what we're used to."
What they needed, truly. Their codependence on each other was ingrained on them at this point. Cam knew she wouldn't have survived out there without him, that truly wasn't an understatement. She owed the other man her life, not just her happiness.
"What about you?" She tilted her head and tried to skin her surface thoughts again. Fear. She did not want him to appear right now. "Don't you... want to talk to him?" She was careful with her tone, gentle, curious without a doubt, but not judgemental.
