Ben had finally talked himself out of his lab for a while. Go for a walk, run an errand or two, experience sunlight. Please! that little voice in the back of his head whined. Unable to ignore it any longer, he strode through the grounds, heading to the Shoppette merely for something to do. As he approached, the sight of rather distressed looking young woman caused him to stop in his tracks. She seemed lost in her own little world. Lord, if he wasn't familiar with that feeling. He began his approach again, realizing that she looked more nervous than upset, which was good. He was much better at making someone laugh than dealing with crying women.
He stopped in front of her, his hands in his pockets, and followed his gaze to her hands. She was holding a few bucks, but nothing that looked too distressing. He pouted and cocked an eyebrow, leaning in to look closer. Maybe he was missing something? Maybe she was just that distracted by her own thoughts. Well, he wouldn't stand there and go ignored - that wasn't his style.
"What are we looking at?" Ben asked quietly, hoping he wouldn't scare her too badly.
