Today wasn't about the brutal moves or effective ways to kill her opponent in the heat of a real battle. That would come later; after Bear knew she got the basics down enough, after the little bird had grown more comfortable with stance and posture needed for kicks and punches. That demonstration of his, with the bottle seemed to get the point across and when Dove seemed more at ease attacking him the big guy smiled and looked on. Fighting could be daunting for folks, and while he personally loved it...well the large man was quite patient and understanding.
With seemingly infinite patience he took every kick offered. Those eyes of his appraising her every movement silently, only offering a little suggestion from time to time; pointing out when her stance needed a slight adjustment, or remarking when she was off her mark with the hit. There was no snapping, or anger, not gruffness as all. Even when she focused on the side of his knees either. Oh he felt it all, every attack, but never even winced or flinched. Instead the massive man smiled and offered words of praise and encouragement whenever she seemed to get the hang of something....before instructing her to switch targets, or ever reverse her stance so Dove would use her other leg to kick too.
Personally he felt no exhaustion, nor pain, yet when Bear saw her starting to get a little fatigued he'd push her on for just a few more moments before finally letting her take a break. After giving the young woman a breather, and the chance to drink some water, he finally moved close again and reached out to gently take her left hand into his right. "Good. Real good. So that's the basic punches and kicks. Next we up we got something a little different. Same half rule applies, but this time we are looking at the limbs."
With a soft touch he pulled her arm up and extended it in front of her, gesturing from her shoulder to her fingers. "Seems stupid but most folks to realize how weak the joints really are. Arms and legs alike. So if ya find yourself real close, and someone tries to grab ya...well I'm a fan of breaking their elbow." Slowly he rested her hand on his chest, that arm of her's still outstretched, and with both hands he showed her where to grab on someone's arm...and how to bend that limb the right way to get it to snap. Oh he never hurt her, never even put any strain on her arm at all. But instead just pointed out that all it took was the right grip, and just the faintest amount of pressure to do some serious damage.
"Same goes for the fingers, and I will show you the thumb lock too. If ya can get it down, you can control an enemy regardless of their size." Patience was the word of the day, and the big guy had it in spades. Working with her through each step until at last he held out his own hand to her so Dove could give the moves a go. "Only real thing you gotta keep in mind, is when dealing with supers...well those with inhuman strength, or a high threshold for pain...this won't be as effective. But against humans, well even a pretty little bird can take down a human as big as me."
