She'd already guessed that half the people here, probably more than half, had been swooped in and dragged to this little den of confinement without their consent -the worst would probably be the young ones, ones that cycled through those juvenile places and then into these facilities, people who hadn't been given the chance or option to really experience the world or form their own thoughts and opinions. It was galling to think that they'd already be brainwashed to think this was what was best for them by the time they were old enough to be sent to fight someone else's battles.
"Sure, so what, we're all the same and it's totally cool to put former college kids in one big cage with criminals and see if we form some kind of solidarity and don't just murder each other?" Because she was totally sleeping easy at night knowing that any one of her team mates might've been some psychopath criminal super before they were caught and put in this hellhole. Not that Ruby needed the help to trigger her paranoia.
"If it's all the same, I think I'll live my life without becoming the bionic woman." Awesome robotic hand or not, she wasn't aspiring to losing her hand in some horrible mission accident, and then have to figure out how to work out a robotic prosthetic.
But she could tell the Lucas was basically just blowing hot air, he was saying all the things he either thought he was meant to say or was expected to say, half of the words falling flat and his expression giving away that he wasn't the hard ass that he really wanted to appear to be. Ruby figured that was how handlers had to get by in there, giving the impression of not caring too much about the agents -agents were expendable, less than people, just numbers and weapons. "Maybe." Jailers or not, holding the people in their cells, someone didn't seem to be supporting the entire play book the higher ups were laying down. "So what, I make myself useful here and then they won't send me out to possibly lose my hand or other appendages? Gotta say, computers aren't my thing, I tend to take them apart. Might need to figure out some other way to fake it until I make it." She honestly didn't think there was a way, if they wanted her in the field, they'd put her there. It was better to get stronger, be faster, be better with her powers.
