Juniper watched Mira moving around the kitchen, spotting the criss-cross of markings on her arm but not asking anything about them. It was rude, and none of her business. She tilted her head, listening as Mira spoke.
“I hadn’t thought of that,” she replied honestly. “Smelling and hearing better, I mean,” she rubbed the back of her neck and her wings, settled in a more neutral position, rustled and ruffled absently flexing as she rocked up onto her toes and down again. “I can see really well in most lights but when it’s dark, I get blinded by bright lights. Like car headlights, you know? I woke up one morning and my eyes looked… like this and then I could see stuff that was really far away.”
She'd never really spoken about her powers with anyone before, the abilities that she had developed. Her parents didn't like to talk about it but they handled it with all the grace they could.
