She laughed slightly. "It was nothing special. Just some books and board games I've collected over the years," she admitted "I've been with some of those guys for years. It was sentimentality, I think, that made me leave them there. Don't want them to forget me."
Penny put up the collar of her hooded sweatshirt to block the wind from her neck. "You did better than you think. I've been an Agent since I was a kid. Some handlers forget that the Agents under their care are people. Some of them forget that we have to be prepared to go into dangerous situations. I can't imagine that it's easy to find the in between."
It felt good to hear that she would allow her to continue working on her own. She didn't think that training in the traditional way would help that skill at all. "I appreciate that." Her question made Penny frown as she tried to think of how to answer it.
"Not really. It's like working a muscle. I could go up to six feet when it first manifested. Then each additional feet was like pushing past the end of how long your body will let you run. Do you want to see?"
