When he suggested that she didn't have to stop her routine, Nicky went to retrieve her knives. Carefully, she gathered them all up and set them back onto her small table. She always, if somewhat absentmindedly, sorted them by size when she laid them out again. There was a small part of her brain that liked the order. It also made the routine easier to continue.
She threw three more knives before he had offered her any kind of critique of her form. She gave Bryan a sideways glance as she twirled a fourth knife in her hand. "Oh, really?" There was a smile on her face that could've passed for sarcastic and she gave him what was, for her, an uncomfortable chuckle.
