Abby trembled slightly, like a scared puppy as Kat snapped at her, shutting up. She hadn’t even noticed the apple that had gotten on her and everywhere. Quickly she shoved her journal into her bad and nodded. “I’ll go get some towels and a trash can.” She ran to the small kitchenette area and grabbed what she said she’d grab and returned a moment later. Abby helped clean up, picking up popcorn and using the towel to help wipe up the wet spots left by the apple bits.
After a long silence she spoke, very quietly as if afraid she’d be snapped at again. “Thank you for not turning me in. I really don’t want to be put in solitary.” Even though it was an accident and out of her control she knew that she would get in trouble for it. It was policy. As they finished cleaning, Abby finally realized she had apple on her and started to pick the chunks off her Star Wars t-shirt and blue jeans.
