Taking a shaky breath, Evie tried not to let her emotions get the best of her. What she wanted to do was cry. She'd been avoiding talking to anybody about what happened if she could help it, short of the debriefings after her return. It had hit her hard, and it still hit her, and she wasn't sure how long that would last. She thought it was something she could deal with on her own, but being confronted about it only brought back a lot of the pain as if it was fresh.
In response, the hologym came to life. It replicated the room she had been interrogated in, the people who had questioned her, all in response to her ability to control the technology around them and her heightened emotional state. Evie shivered.
"It's not really something I want to share," she answered, her voice wobbling. "Because that makes me think about it, and when I do..." She gestured helplessly at the room around them. "Like opening a floodgate that I can't close. But I'm scared, Argus..."
