She laughed nervously. "Yeah. A job," she agreed. "A never-ending job. I'm glad we don't have to handle fixing everything they break out in the field, like a cover-up team. We'd never have a break." As much as their agents trashed the Regiment equipment--partly, she was sure, to be spiteful to their captors/employers--they were even rougher on their surroundings and their enemies. Cleaning up after that would be a monumental task.
Evie didn't really want to get into it. She knew the more she said, the more likely she would slip, so she wanted to be as minimalistic about the situation as possible. Not to mention, she didn't know how Argus would act if she came out and said she'd been tortured into talking and may have had her mind read to boot. She considered her phrasing carefully.
"There was a...security breach. It's possible our layouts and some important security information was leaked and that the people on the receiving end might try to act on that information. So I thought maybe it would be a smart idea to change up what we've got because it'd be different from what they know," she said, holding her head high and clearing her throat awkwardly at the end.
