It wasn’t particularly surprising that Remus hadn’t known the extent to which Sirius’ problems were in his family. Sure, he was aware of the fact that he didn’t agree with them and said so openly, but to refuse them? He suspected briefly that James would know more of what was going on here, though he wouldn’t push the matter. The Blacks were a sensitive subject, and he didn’t want to create any unnecessary tension with his friend if he could help it.
"I’m sorry to hear that he’s acting that way," Remus began carefully, keeping his gaze level with Orion’s. He was certainly intimidated, but not enough that he didn’t have his wits about him. "But I don’t think I can be of help to you. Sirius makes his own decisions. We will stand behind whatever he chooses, but we cannot change his mind if it’s made up."
