Julius was glad at least that the man didn't see fit to favour him with his exploits in the summer. Julius was certain he knew the sort of thing that Slughorn would have got up to, much like the same things he did here. It was an open-secret after all. Most of the students were aware of Slughorn's predilections but they put up with it because their parents had and because getting into the Slugclub was the first step towards a successful career outside of Hogwarts. You hardly had to do very much either - the old man could be pacified with a jar of his favourite sweets, a little bit of flirting - that was what most of the students would have to do. It was only a few who'd ever end up sitting here late at night like Julius was.
He perked up a little at the prospect of seeing an advance copy of the new Slugclub list. The students on there would be the leaders of tomorrow. Getting a peak would mean Julius could begin befriending them now. "I would never tell, Professor. I would hate to spoil the surprise. I remember how excited I was when I saw my name up there."
