On the edge of her seat Missy perched. Clutching a pillow to her chest. Her fake nails resting against her lips in pose for the nervous biting habit that would increase as the events would unfold. She could not tear her eyes from the skin, not even to reach for the glass of wine on the table in front of her. Nothing she needed more than a glass of wine to sooth the inevitable pain she would feel. Missy trembled with fear, or was it nerves. Weren’t they the same thing. Watching wax figure spring to life as it moved towards her Ariadne. The one she hoped for, cheered for. Even if she seemed hopeless. She wanted her to come home. The sheer fact she loved the toilet paper made her such sweetie. She seemed to innocent and unfit for the arena. Brutus Roach the face that had struck so much fear in her the day he one. Missy remembered it sitting at home with her parents. Clinging to the final moments she remembered being in awe. That same sense was not here now as she watched her dearest try to pull the spear lose. “Leave it alone.” She muttered. Wishing her to get out of there. As the head turned. This wasn’t right. Something was wrong. Never trust the gamemakers Ariadne. The scream of Ariadne ran through her like ice cold water, shocking her system. “No.” Missy screamed out as she reached her hand forward as if she could offer some help or assistance. Watching her fight back was eating away at her emotions. There was no hope against something like that. As the machine, the figure, hit her tribute to the wall she knew it was over. Missy knew she was watching Aradne’s final moments. A whimper escaped as she wished to push her eyes into the pillow before her and not witness it. As if like an ostridge if she did not see it did not happen. Though she could not pull her eyes from the screen or the visual she was seeing. One she was sure that would haunt her dreams. The gamemakers were full of surprises. As Ariadne finally went limp she reached for her wine glass taking a long gulp. “I’ll get toilet paper to your parents Ariadne.” She whispered before finishing her glass and getting up to get another. There was noticeably no bounce to her step there usually was. Missy was defunct, ready to give up. Even if she still had Alex. The lovely boy who had served her breakfast. She hope he came home. |
