WHO: Sephora Kohl [D1] and Patsy Hops [D9]
WHAT: Patsy catches herself a career
WHEN: Late afternoon, Day 4.
WHERE: Near the Tunnel of Love
STATUS: Complete log!
It was nearly the end of the first week and she was still without a kill. While she had felt a boost of confidence from her Mentor's dropping the healing ointment to her a few days ago (both physically and psychologically), it had quickly melted away. That was a limited success and she needed another to carry her through. It wasn't enough that her allies were starting to see some damage, she needed to prove she was on the upswing while they were fading. Everyone was trying to nail that second kill now that Brock had two and Sephora was no exception. She moved through the south east section with steady, cautious speed; without her allies around, she lightened up on the slightly off-kilter manner in which she had been moving. Though her head still hurt, she had regained her balance... not that they needed to know that. A building was up ahead, one that she hadn't been near yet. As she moved closer, she tightened her grip on her daggers as something became rapidly apparent - this was a water zone. Whatever this Tunnel of Love was, it had boats in a river. River meant water. Water meant desperate outlier tributes. Perfect. Patsy had been watching the area where set her trap carefully for the past few hours since she'd finished it. She couldn't figure out how to set a trip wire without, well, wire. So she had to keep her eye on it, but she didn't mind. It was exciting and she was confident someone would be along soon enough. Indeed, she finally saw some movement and stiffened. It wasn't Reaper or Zap, that was for sure. She waited to see if the other girl, one of the careers, as she soon realized, would get closer. "Come on," she mentally willed the career girl to come nearer. She wondered if the water would be like last year, poisoned to make the tributes sick. She wasn’t altogether hurting for water, but eventually she’d be on her own, and knowing where she could get water was important. Her thoughts turned to what she might do here - maybe pack a bag of food and lie in wait for tributes to descend? No, the Capitol wanted action and pursuit from it’s Careers. A huntress. Her eyes swept before her as she came under the awning of the ride. Patsy's body tensed with anticipation as the District One girl did come closer. She knew she'd only get one chance and so this need to go perfectly. She tried not to think about what could happen if it went wrong. After what seemed like ages, finally the other girl was right where Patsy wanted her and she sprang into action, letting go of the rope she made out of the the tend. She watched with a smug satisfaction as the parachute-like fabric, rocks and all fell towards the other tribute. Red fell around her quickly, pulling her down to the ground with an unknown weight. She gave a sharp cry as she collapsed onto her wrist, eyes wincing shut for a moment as she indulged the sharp pain that shot up towards her elbow. But she refused to let it last. She sprung into action, her free, uninjured hand changing grip on her dagger and swiping above her to cut a hole in the taut fabric and poked her head out and around, eyes wild to take in any further attack. And then she saw her, just behind the building, smug smile still in place. She didn’t see the rocks around her or the buildings or the backdrop. She just saw that blonde head belonging to Patsy Hops, District 9. Pain shooting through her wrist, possibly her district partner ready to pop out, Sephora couldn’t help but take a moment to give Patsy a respectful, if predatory smile. “Clever,” she called out brightly, if with a slight wince, and then immediately started untangling herself from the voluminous red fabric weighed down by massive stones. She was going to get this one and that would put her over Brock for quality of kills. Patsy watched, fascinated by Sephora attempting, and then succeeding in getting out of her trap way too quickly for her liking. It was lucky for the other girl that Patsy didn’t have a weapon because it would have been the perfect time to try and kill a career. At this point, it was all she wanted in her inevitably short life. But she didn’t let her disappointment show and when Sephora spoke to her, she just gave a cheeky little wave back and then turned and ran away as fast as she could. With a blooming smile she cut the gap wider and go her shoulders through, shrugging her small body through the gap she made. The chase was on, and though her off-wrist was still jarred by the impact of her fall, she couldn’t help but feel a thrill go through her. It was time to hunt. She jogged lightly around the corner in case she had an ally waiting, but on it’s clearance, it was time for the pursuit. |
