WHO: Stitch Weaver and NPC Capitolite with an affinity for badly-made furniture WHAT: Talking to potential sponsors WHEN: Night #3 WHERE: The Capitol STATUS: Complete
As much as Stitch hated hitting potential sponsors up, he knew he had to. True, he hadn’t bonded with Alex or Ariadne too much, but he never did get too attached to the tributes yet he still always felt the obligation to get as many as sponsors as possible. It was always easier said than done, though.
He’d gotten in touch with people he knew liked his weird furniture hobby thing. He’d never taken it too seriously but strangely, some of the Capitolites had. It was time to exploit that, even if he had to make promises he wasn’t crazy about having to keep. The less work, the better, he thought. But it just might work.
“We still have both ours left from District Eight, you know. That’s a good sign. They work together well, plus they’ve allied with the seven boy,” he found himself saying to a potential sponsor who had one of his stupid, off-kilter tables. “The boy is clever, good-looking and interesting. What more could you want? The girl’s smart too and tougher than she looks. They’re both real contenders this year.” He could sense the hesitation despite his excellent points. He’d have to try to be more convincing.
“There’s also the fact that us District Eight victors always won in arenas like these. It’s totally suited to us. Those kids have a definite advantage.” Stitch looked up to the still indecisive face of the Capitolite and sighed internally. It was time to do it. A mutually beneficial exchange might be just the thing to tip the scale in his favor.
“And you know, maybe if you see fit to help out, I could find a way to get you a chair to match that table.” Never mind the fact that his chairs were much worse than his tables and much harder to do. He was doing it out of love. Well maybe not love, but some sort of fondness, deep down. That and an intense desire to see Eight win something again. He had real hope this year, he hadn’t lied to the man. Their chances really were better than most years. Maybe if not the chair, his genuine hopefulness would help sway sponsors.
