Characters: Mandy and Open
Setting: Cafe in Diagon Alley
Rating: G-PG
Content: None
Summary: Lunch after a busy day in the shops
Status: Incomplete

Tucking her hands into her pockets, Mandy stepped out of Flourish and Blott's and into the sunlight. Closing her eyes she paused briefly and tipped her head up toward the sky, feeling the sunlight on her face. The weather was turning cooler, with a bit on an autumn nip, not quite cool enough for the jacket she wore, but it was nice to enjoy the sunshine a little. It was a moment before she started back down the alley, her carrier bag swinging by her side. Despite having spent nearly three hours in the shop, Mandy had managed to rein herself in and as a result only ended up with to new books. It had been a difficult task, but she was still quite pleased with her purchases and really couldn't want to begin reading them.

Glancing briefly at her watch, Mandy decided that it might be time for a brief break for lunch. Heading along the cobbles toward the nearest sandwich shop, Mandy settled outside at one of the tables. Pulling out the menu, she quickly decided on a sandwich before pulling out her first book.

"I recommend avoiding the ham," Ginny said with a grin as she flopped down into the chair next to Mandy's. It was one of her favorite places to visit after a morning of practice and after being shouted at all morning it would be nice to have someone to talk to that wasn't her captain. "One of our reserves claims it gave him an nasty blight all weekend long. Though I am thinking it might be the firewhiskey and not the ham sandwich."

Ginny gave her an easy smile as she scanned the menu before making her own choice for a sandwich. Sure she could be home or doing something important but there was always later for that. She needed to feel the sun on her skin and breathe a little air first.

"Do you?" Mandy asked, glancing up and smiling as Ginny joined her. A bit startled to have someone suddenly join her, she closed her book briefly. She reached out for the menu again, wrinkling her nose in disgust as Ginny went n the explain her team-mate's encounter with the sandwich. "Even if it was the drink, maybe I'd be better off avoiding it." Mandy said with a laugh and a shake of her head. The mention of blight had severely put her off ham anyway.

"Maybe chicken. That might be safer." Mandy commented as she scanned the list before putting the menu back on the table. Glancing back up at Ginny, she smiled. "Are you done for the day?"

"Chicken is always safer," at least in her experience it was but that didn't mean much. Under cooked chicken could make one sick just as fast and if not worse since almost all ham is precooked. "I think I am going to be safe and go with turkey too just in case."

Ginny leaned back in her chair absently, "Yep. It is a good thing because my body could use the break and it is rather tiring dodging bloody bludgers all day long." She did love it though. "How about you? Done or on lunch?"

"So long as it's cooked right." Mandy conceded. She knew enough about the dangers of improperly cooked meat and other things. Still, Mandy wasn't about to start lecturing, no one really tended to enjoy those. "Turkey sounds like an a good option too."

"That's good, guess you have practices most days of the week then?"Mandy asked, leaning forward a little in interest. "Neither, day off, so was just doing a bit of shopping and time for a break."
