Who: Abby Sciuto & Open
Where: Her place
When: That evening
What: Settling in with really loud music. Feel free to complain!
Status: Incomplete.

Gibbs liked turning her music off, but always turned it back on when he was done. Abby would miss that if she was condemned to stay here. Gibbs didn't have a taste for her music, not most of it. Ducky liked some, particularly Android Lust. Thinking of him while she tried to settle in she put it on the main speakers, at a volume which was very comfortable for her. She missed Ducky. And Gibbs. And Tony, McGee and Ziva. And Major MassSpec. This place might be nice but it was nothing without her friends or her work. I mean, what use would they have for a forensic scientist here? Everything was too clean and... nice.

'Dancing' around her apartment a little, Abby removed her lab coat and untied her plaits before tapped on her kitchen counter along to the music. Now this she could do. Oh Android Lust, you never failed her.

It sure failed other people, though. Vulcan ears were certainly more sensitive than human ears, and it wasn't long before T'Pol found herself heading toward that den of loud noise. Knuckles rapping against the door, she waited with her hands behind her back - an excellent way to hide how tightly her fingers curled around each other. The throbbing of the base was like a consistant, constant thunder that refused to dissipate, and she could feel a headache building. The technology was hardly 22nd century standard; she wasn't even sure what one would take for a headache here. Best to avoid it before it became an issue.

Abby had left the door unlocked but had the music up a notch too much to hear anyone knocking at the door; she'd see them if they decided to walk in though. Her hair fell past her shoulders now, moving rapidly as she moved with the music, tapping along as the song changed.

It was strange how whatever she'd been doing had just been dropped but what she'd been holding had been brought with her. Luckily for her, and the case, though she hadn't been holding any evidence - just Bert which lay atop her kitchen table along with her music. She'd managed to find some whilst wandering about before coming to her apartment, quickly finding the utilities on the PDA and accessing them and her money. Having computer skills was a bonus in these cases. Not being good at unexpected changes or being moved like this without warning though... wasn't.

T'Pol frowned at the door; when no answer was forthcoming, she reached out to try the door. Letting herself in, it took an actual effort to avoid grimacing as the sound increased. It didn't take long to find Abby - or the source of the music. Though designating it music was a difficult thing for T'Pol to grasp.

"Excuse me," She said, lifting her voice - hopefully, enough to be heard. It might take a couple tries.

Abby saw the woman when she entered and gave her a big smile, beckoning her closer. She hadn't expected anyone to come up and greet her and held her hand out to her.

"You're on Abby air, welcome."

T'Pol eyed the offered hand and arched an eyebrow, keeping both of hers behind her back. Lifting her gaze to the young woman, she tilted her head, a little quizzical. Abby air? "Would you mind lowering the music," she almost-yelled over it.

Abby frowned at the woman and turned the music off, placing her hands back on the counter and pinning the woman with a look, trying to stare her down.

"That wasn't very nice."

Oh, good luck Abby.Really, have fun with that. T'Pol quirked her other eyebrow, lips pursed momentarily. She thought she'd been cordial, given her fear of being deafened. "If you perceived a rudeness, I am sorry; it was not my intent." All said with a twinge of irony, because she found playing that noise so loud quite rude.

Abby continued staring at her for a moment longer, and then softened her stare, picking up Bert from the counter and squeezing him, releasing a fart-sound from him.

"You are forgiven strange lady."

It was a moment before she could answer properly, staring at the new noisemaker. What in the world was that? "My name is T'Pol." And what the hell is that thing.

Abby smiled when she got a weird look for Bert, squeezing the hippo again. And then a look of recognition.

"You were the one talking to me on my PDA."

"I believe so." And she can't ignore her curiosity anymore. Both eyebrows start climbing as she nods toward Bert.

"What is that?

"I'm Abby." She smiled, putting Bert back down onto the counter, facing him towards her.

"That's Bert."

An eyebrow stretched upward as T'Pol took a step forward. "Bert." She didn't ask its name, but. "What is it?"

"He's a hippo, well a stuffed hippo." Abby nodded and moved from around the counter to where she'd discarded her labcoat, moving to hang it up and make the 'place look neater'.

A hippo with flatulence. T'Pol blinked and glanced at the coat, lifting one eyebrow. "You were pulled away from work?"

"During the middle of a case too. Gibbs is going to be so mad." Abby could only speculate as to what would happen while she wasn't there, but she knew that Gibbs wouldn't like this and she doubted that the evidence would finish being analysed either.

Her eyebrow climbed higher. "Gibbs?" T'Pol paused a moment before inclining her head. "I was in the middle of mapping a nebula."

"Oh, Gibbs is my boss." Abby nodded, perhaps a little nervously. She'd just called him up to her lab for the results and had been waiting for the promised Caf-Pow. Which she never got, which didn't mean good things.

"A nebula? We've hit space? Other than NASA of course. Not like NASA would do anything like that I mean... I'm rambling again."

Yes, she certainly was - but T'Pol was used to a bit of rambling. She tilted her head to the side, eyebrow climbing toward her hair line. "NASA?" That certainly sounded familiar - historically familiar. Yes, Earth's first spacial exploration organization. The eyebrow lifted higher.

"You know, astronauts, space suits, exploring... NASA." She looked at her, waiting for some kind of response or acknowledgement from her.

"Personally, I think half of it's a hoax."

"Space travel is hardly a hoax." Captain Kirk had said that the Temporal Prime Directive was all but broken by the very fact that they all existed here, and T'Pol was inclined to agree.

"No, not space travel. That would be cool. I think NASA's a hoax; they don't do what they say. It's either a hoax or a conspiracy. Very much likely to be a conspiracy." Abby nodded again, very believing in what she said.

T'Pol linked her hands behind her back, head tilting to the side. "It is not. It will advance well."

"Oh. Well that's just great then." Abby seemed a little deterred by this; she didn't know why but she was. Not a lot made Abby feel this... 'eh', but her conspiracy theories being disproved did. Not that she had, she'd just told her that space travel advanced. Sort of different. Sort of.

"The advancement of NASA and space travel should be a good thing; you, however, seem displeased by it." Staring right back, yep.
