"We don't have to pretend," Angela said with a smile. "Family has a definition that's broad enough for none of this to matter. And as long as we're in this place, we all need each other more than we'd ever have admitted back where we came from," She said before smiling slightly. "The fact of the matter is, dear, that if Claire can get along with your father, there's absolutely nothing keeping the rest of us from doing the same."
Not that that was really the issue here, but Gabriel was what was keeping all of them from really agreeing on this. Sure, Elle wasn't her favorite person and nor was Angela Elle's favorite, but they were able to tolerate each other when it was necessary. Elle didn't try and kill her when she was upset.
"And I like your mother...well enough, when she's actually acting her age," Angela said before her expression softened ever so lightly. "And I'm already far fonder of you than I should be considering the little time that we've known each other."
