As his head hit the bar, Uhura winced to herself, frowning as she reached out idly, settling a hand on the back of his head as he talked. She wished there was more that she could do, that she could say, that wouldn't leave him thudding his head against hardwood. Idly thumbing her fingers through his hair as she listened, her hand pulled back as he picked his head up again. If there had been any name that she'd been expecting, that one wasn't it.
"Bones as in your best friend? What has he done?"
Because that was just... That didn't make any sense. Out of all of the people that had been around James T. Kirk back at the Academy, Leonard McCoy had been the only persistent presence. She wasn't sure she could imagine them ever being on the outs.
