That caught him off guard. He was confused about her reaction to what he'd said, but when she asked about, and correctly guessed, Victor's last name it caused him more than a little shock. The shock overrode his self-training, and he craned his head around fully to look at her. This had the unfortunate side effect of giving her a full view of the entirety of his face, full of scars and stitches. It was definitely not the prettiest thing in the world. Quite the opposite.
"Yes, it was." His brow furrowed and he shifted slightly to face her better. "How did you know? He certainly did not share his knowledge, and I tried to stay out of the public eye." A second later he realized he was looking straight at her and quickly turned away. "Ah, I apologize," he mumbled, suddenly uncomfortable. He shouldn't have just turned without giving her some kind of warning what to expect. Then again, if she knew who Victor was, could it be possible she knew him as well? It was a possibility. Still, he didn't want to drive her away or frighten her, a possibility that would be more likely if she knew who he was and what he'd done. "I should have warned you."
