Nate only nodded distractedly at Sophie's words, focus mostly on his son, though he really did appreciate her presence. His mind did briefly go over his words. Wondering if they were literal or further meant for reassurance. He recalled during their talk on the boards, that she'd seem definite about results, about things coming through. And he wondered now if that was a little more than hope. We, huh? Was she talking about this team. Nate of course had more questions about the team but at the moment they didn't even penetrate the for front of his mind. He did, however, wonder when would that luck run out? Even with the right skills success wasn't always a sure bet. Nevertheless, as realistic as that was, Nate sort of ... found a comfort in Sophie's words. Because Nathan Ford wasn't a man that called it quits until Quits decided to come along and sit on him, squash him down. And with this? With Sam, not even that was going to stop him.
They would find a way.
Nate managed to summon up an actual smile, one that reached his eyes and everying when Sam looked up confusion at the fact that McCoy's attention was focused on him. Quirking his head encouragingly, he listened on as Sam answered the questions. Not once did the fact, thoughout Sam speaking, that Nate Ford wanted to grab his son and never let him go, showed onto his features. Nor did the fact that he was planning on dropkicking Blackpoole in a way that wasn't just physical when he returned to his own reality.
He did, however, put a soothing hand on his son's back. Encouraging and lending what strength he had left.
"Alright." Nate said in response to McCoy's feelings about being paid. He knew when not to press and issue, but even as he said the word, it was possibly obvious ... only to Sophie, that his mind was already ticking on the ways he would repay the doctor if he could cure his son. "Your clinic, your price." He said, his calm tone managing to hint on the fact that he would pay a king's ransom-find a way to do it-if it that meant Sam's returned health. "Whatever you say, doctor."
