CHARACTERS: Kara Zor-El and Bulla Briefs
LOCATION: The housing area, heading into building A
TIME: Around 7pm
NOTES: --

It had become apparent to her that there seemed to be no one from her world here. No one knew who she was, she had to act to put on to fit in. In fact, she was more than positive that not everyone here was human. Conclusion? She didn't have to pretend to be something she wasn't. Not that she was about to flaunt that she wasn't human, but she was also going to use her powers as she saw fit. So yes, she was going to fly where she wanted. She'd spent the day job hunting and had finally found a potential one a cyber cafe. Computers, coffee and food. She might not make the best falvored anything, but she learned fast, and computers she could do. Kara just had to call the manager, who had zero personality and avoided every question she had about this place, to work on her shifts tomorrow.

After that she had taken the 100 dollars she had received (one hundred dollars got you no where when you had to live on it), and made it stretch as far as she could. She bought toiletries, some clothes, and a few things for her room. It was all cheap stuff, it would probably have to be replaced soon, but it would do until she got a paycheck.

Something was trapping them here, and making them work. Horrible hospitality.

The red and blue bur that was Kara slowed down outside of her building, and came toward the ground, touching down outside of the front door. She looked behind her, still waiting for the day someone saw her flying and decided she was some kind of freak. They'd get over it. Adjusting her bags in her hand, she turned back around and reached for the door.

Considering who her family was, and the success of Capsule Corp. back home, Bulla had never had to work for anything before. Granted she was still relatively young and would, someday, work in the family company, but even then it wasn't really work. Not in the way that it was, here, at least. Here... well, honestly, Bulla was having a hard time figuring out just what she was qualified for, in this strange city.

Still, since her arrival she'd obediently gone out every day in search of a job. Granted she still slept in, and took her sweet time getting ready, and made sure to fly around a bit in case anything new had popped up overnight, but she did make it to the main shopping areas where she browsed around in search of some sort of position that wouldn't end with her verbally eviscerating someone or possibly making them target practice for some of the moves she'd recently been taught by her brother.

Her money was getting low but wasn't depleted quite yet. She wasn't a frugal person by nature nor was she the sort to rely on bare bones necessities to get by, but Bulla was a bright young woman and knew how to stretch stuff if she had to. She didn't like it, but she'd been doing it for a few weeks now and figured she had no choice but to keep right on doing it until she managed to find work.

Not used to hiding the fact that she could fly, she wasn't going to start now. Yes she could use a car to get around - and typically did, back home, unless heading off to watch the boys take on some sort of threat to the planet - but there weren't any cars here and there was no possible way that the daughter of Vegeta was going to lower herself to walking all over the city when it wasn't necessary.

Arriving in front of her building after yet another day of wandering the shops looking for that 'perfect' job, Bulla noticed the blond woman reaching for the door. With a smirk, the aquamarine-haired girl landed silently behind her - a few feet back - and commented simply by way of greeting, "They really should have a designated landing area for us airborne few. One of these days there's going to be a mid-air collision and it really won't be our fault at all."

She heard someone come up behind her, and the fact that it was a landing, and not someone walking up was enough to make her look over her shoulder. The girl game into view just as she started talking. The coloured hair didn't surprise her, though she assumed it wasn't natural. Either way, Kara smiled, someone else could fly. Finally. "You'd think they would. Or one of us might land on someone coming out the door. Also not our fault." she said with a grin. Pulling the door open, she stepped into the building, looking around curiously.

"I can't believe they're keeping us in here. It's like...collage." Kara had seen dorm rooms on television, and had no desire to live in one. Her own room to herself was fine with her. She could only hope that she managed to get a long with new ones. "Here's hoping my roommate isn't terrifying, creepy or male." she said with another grin over her shoulders. "Unless he was a good looking one." though she was totally kidding, she'd be less likely to complain if that was the case.

Her PDA had told her she was in building A, room 102. So that meant first floor, second door. The second door wasn't far to walk, and Kara soon found herself staring at her door, which already had a gold plate with the name Kara Zor-El on it. Well...great. Here's hoping no one from my world shows up. She'd gone all this time trying to be a Kent, and while she had been done with that, it was because she hadn't been living with humans. Weather her roommate was human, or even if this girl who had landed behind her was human with some special abilities, she didn't know.

Turning she looked back at the other woman, "I'm Kara, by the way. Just arrived." she had flown by these buildings earlier and had a peek into the windows of one of the empty rooms to know what to expect before she had gone on her mission to have money to survive. No point in waiting around.

Bulla grinned, tugging her red, fingerless gloves further up her arms as she followed Kara inside the building. "It's ridiculous," she agreed. "This whole place is insane. The townspeople are some of the biggest idiots I've ever met." Pausing as they came to her own room, Bulla frowned slightly in confusion. Was she some sort of mind-reader or something? How did she know...

At the introduction, Bulla blinked. Her gaze flickered to the newly-appeared gold name plate with the same name etched into it. With a smirk that could easily rival her father's, she turned her brilliant blue eyes back to the blonde. "I'm Bulla," she replied, tipping her head toward her own name-etched plate. "And I'm not terrifying, creepy, and definitely not male."

Pulling out the key that led into their room, she arched an eyebrow at Kara. "Shall we go inside?" she offered. "There's not much in the way of a tour but, well, looks like we're both going to be calling it home for a little while, huh?"

"I've noticed. I just talked to the manager of a cyber cafe for a potential job. The computers had more personality than him. And they were just basic computers." which were pretty out of date for her, but still. It was like talking to someone who was completely brainwashed. Almost like Lana during her possession by Brainiac. Only this time they could talk.

"Hm?" she asked, confused, before looking to the other name on the door. Bulla Briefs She was speaking to her new roommate. When she looked back at Bulla, she was grinning. "Well that's a relief." she said, and meant it. "Guess you're stuck with me for a while." She wasn't some sixty year old creepy man. She almost looked Kara's age, and seemed friendly enough. And she could fly. Bonus.

"Sure. Guess it's time to see where I'll be staying." it was going to be a heck of a lot smaller than the Kent farm, where she was use to having all kinds of room to simply be herself. It wouldn't the same as her own bedroom, but it was better than nothing. Ontop of that, the girl hadn't even seemed to phased by the odd name on the, where as most people at home would have looked at her like she had two heads and then poured on the questions.

A job. Bulla wasn't sure if she should feel happy that her roommate seemed to have an easier go at finding work than she did, or jealous that it was so difficult for her yet easy for others. Not really feeling much of anything on the subject she just left it alone for the time being. She'd find something. She would. It was just a matter of time, is all.

With another grin, the girl nodded her head and opened the door. "Obviously, it's not much to look at," she stated by way of introduction. "But the neighbors above us are pretty quiet and we weren't given any choice anyway, so I guess there's no point in complaining."

Dropping her key on her desk, she nodded to the other, empty desk. "Your key's in that envelope," she explained. "The room also came with a mini-fridge but... well..." She motioned to the full-sized refrigerator against the far wall. "I have a bit of an appetite, so I replaced it with a better one." Which brought Bulla to her next topic of conversation - the capsules she had in a case beside her bed. She'd wait to mention those, however, until Kara'd had a chance to take in their meager surroundings and possibly think to ask as to how she'd snagged a fridge. Bulla figured this was as good of a way of figuring out just how quick on the uptake her new roomie was as anything else might be.

She looked around the room as she walked to what she assumed was her bed, and dumped her bags on it. "I've had to look at worse." she said with a shrug. It beat endless amounts of time in the Phantom Zone. At least she didn't have to carry around a knife and fight for life every few hours. Or however long it had been between fights. She looked up at the ceiling, half tempted to x-ray the structure and see if anyone was up there now. "I hope so." she said, dragging her sight back down. "I've got pretty good hearing." sometimes she just heard things she didn't want hear.

She looked at her desk, moving over to it and picking up the envelope, flipping it open and dumping the key into her hand. Key. Right. Reaching behind her neck, she un-clipped the cheap silver chain that held the not-so-cheap House of El symbol on it. Next to it on the chain she slipped the key, making it easy to carry around. Then she tucked both pieces of metal back under her shirt.

"How's you manage to score that fridge?" she asked curiously. "A hundred dollars couldn't cover it." unless she already had a job, or had come with more money, which would make sense. Kara dropped down on her bed, rummaging through her bags to look at the stuff she had, and then space that was available for it. She was so not going to complain about an actual big fridge instead of a mini-fridge, but it made her curious to know if she had some sort of inside connection that Kara just didn't know about.

Smart girl. Bulla was suitably impressed. Then again, being who she was, Bulla was typically impressed anytime anyone outside of her family - both extended and not - managed to be perceptive. So many people from back home simply weren't.

With a smirk, Bulla picked up the small case that was beside her bed, flipping it open with a flick of her wrist. "These," she stated simply, pulling out a small Hoi-Poi Capsule and, holding it in her palm, showed it to Kara.

"They were invented by my grandfather and mother," she went on to explain. "Each one has a specific code that tells you, using the key, what they contain. The item is just shrunken and placed inside until you push the button on top and toss it away from you." She gave Kara a smile. "I happened to have a fridge on-hand, so we lucked out."

She had several others too - clothing, accessories, weapons, and a hover-car, along with various odds and ends, but the fridge really had been the most prudent one she'd managed to find in the case yet.

Her gaze flickered from the capsule she was holding back to Kara as she commented idly, "And that's a pretty necklace you have. You shouldn't keep it hidden under your shirt." Not that it was any of Bulla's business but Bulla had never been one for minding her own business entirely anyway. It just wasn't in her nature.

She looked at the capsule in the hands of the girl with curious interest. It wasn't technology that she had ever scene, but it didn't surprise her that someone had created it. This sort of thing wasn't found anywhere on the Earth she knew. Whatever place this girl was from, it was much more advanced. Maybe up there with Krypton.

She grinned, looking at the whole container. "I haven't seen technology on this level in...a long time." her memories from home were often fuzzy, though some were crystal clear, and the last time she had seen something so advanced was on Krypton.

The symbol on her necklace matched the small one that was designed into the silver bracelet that never name off of her right arm. "Thanks." she said with a smile, her hands reaching up to touch it over her shirt. "It's my family's symbol." she offered, seeing no reason to hide who she was these days. She lifted her silver bracelet and turned her wrist slightly to the symbol was showing again. "I pretty much never take them off." the symbol was the only thing she had left of them. They were all dead, except for Kal-El, who was probably rescuing someone from a burning building at this point, having no idea that Kara had been captured and sent to some world she couldn't escape from. Again.

She pulled a few articles of clothing from her bags, all red, blue, white or black, and began to put them away in her closet. The fact that she was stuck in another place she couldn't get out of again was getting to her. At least last time she had chosen not to leave for humanity's sake. But on the bright side, this place wasn't a hell hole.

"It's nice," Bulla agreed. "My family doesn't really have a symbol. My father is the Prince of a nearly-extinct race and my mother's family owns Capsule Corporation. I guess I could run around with their logo on everything but," she shrugged, "that's not exactly the same thing. And my dad has his armor and a few other things from the Saiyans but... it's still, just not the same."

Replacing the capsule inside the case, she sat down on the edge of her bed and tucked a foot underneath her. The other swung lightly over the edge. "So are you going to be working at that cyber cafe you mentioned?" she questioned curiously. As she spoke, Bulla's fingers snagged a lock of her aquamarine-colored hair and she began idly braiding it.

"Race? ...Saiyans?" she asked, blinking over at her. "You're...not human?" it wasn't often she just randomly came across someone who said it so easily. "My family's dead." she admitted with a shrug. "All but one. I've got a cousin left." though Kandor might have survived, it was only a might. It wasn't guaranteed, for all she knew, the pureblood line of a Kryptonian would end with her and Kal-El. Her trinkets was all she had left of them.

She took her toiletries and moved to look into the the bathroom, finding neat, out of the way places to put them so not to create a mess. "I think so. It's money. Computers here are sort of...primitive. Easy to use, to figure out. And it isn't overly hard to poor a cup of coffee or use a blender. I should be fine."

"Not entirely," Bulla answered. "I'm a Saiyan-Human hybrid. At least, that's the technical term. My mom's human enough. My dad definitely isn't." And never lets anyone forget it, not for an instant, either. Bulla smiled fondly at the thought before focusing back on what Kara was saying.

Blinking at the nonchalant way the girl spoke of her potential new job, Bulla frowned slightly. "I think I'd probably end up pouring coffee on half the people there," she admitted. "I'm a lot more of a people person than my dad is, but I don't think I could serve the idiots that live here for very long." Which really was going to cause a problem since Bulla had to find a job.

"Maybe there's some sort of science lab that's hiring..." she mused before shaking the thought away. She'd have to look into that tomorrow. For now, she was still curious about her new roommate. "So, aside from being able to fly and pour coffee without accidentally dumping it on some moron's head, what else can you do?"

"So Saiyans are from where?" she asked, curious. Another race she'd never heard of. There use to be a time where she knew all the planets that were inhabited across all of the known galaxies. Her logic was going to fail her here. That sucked.

Kara smiled, suppressing a laugh. "I don't think I could do that. I don't know, tripped, messing up or pouring things accidentally just aren't things that ever happen to me." it came with a natural grace from having her powers. And she was thankful for that. Saved tripping on your own two feet.

"I've had my fill of science labs." she admitted, between her fathers lab, and being killed in one, Kara planned on avoiding them for as long as possible. Maybe forever, if she could help it. "My kind have multiple powers under a yellow sun." she said with a shrug. "Flight, speed, strength, x-ray vision, powerful lungs, invulnerability, longevity, increased hearing. I'm sure there's more I've yet to discover." her father never fully told her what all of her powers would be, Kara wasn't even sure he had ever really known himself.
