WHO: Elle Bishop Gray and Noah Gray
WHAT: Exploring the city.
WHEN: Early evening
RATING: TBD
STATUS: In Progress

With so many people slowly but surely reverting to their 'original' forms, it hadn't taken Noah long to realize that he could very well go at any given moment. Or was it revert? He thought that might be the right term, since he was pretty sure from the various odds and ends and, most importantly, toys that scattered the bedroom where he'd found himself that first morning in the city all belonged to a much younger version of himself. Possibly around the time that he'd first discovered his parents were special, or not long thereafter, since his love for race cars had made way for a love of anything involving a superhero not long after that infamous day in his family's kitchen in Costa Verde.

Noah could remember how he'd absorbed the information about fictional superheroes like a veritable sponge, constantly peppering his dad with questions as to whether or not he could do the same things. It wasn't until he was a bit older - closer to ten - that Noah had realized his dad wasn't exactly comfortable showing off his own talents and soon after Noah had stopped reading comics and had started paying attention to the world around him and what those who had superpowers in the real world tended to do with them. Which amounted to a great heap of nothing in most cases... and was when he'd made a silent vow to not squander whatever ability he might end up with.

Shaking his thoughts free from just how bitter of a pill that had been to swallow and how very naive he'd been at the time, the teen turned his sights to the buildings surrounding him as he passed by each one. A bank, a flower shop, a vintage clothing store, it all looked like something he'd find in most any city he'd been in over the years. Nothing special, nothing too unique, and certainly nothing to help clue him in as to where Colligo was actually located.

With a soft sigh, Noah stuffed his hands further into the pockets of his jeans as he stepped around a group of teenagers about his age. They were laughing, shoving each other playfully, and being... well... teenagers. Noah, however, had no use for any of it. Too many years of training, too long spent learning to simply survive in a world that was a far cry from this one, had ensured that he'd grown up fast. Granted there were still parts of him that could be foolish. Headstrong. Even immature and far too stubborn for his own good. But he was rarely carefree unless in the company of those he felt secure being carefree around. And out of the two top people on that list, only one of them was from his own reality.

Glancing up at a large building that looked to be apartments of some sort, he smiled slightly at a little boy who was about six floors up and peering out a window at him. The boy waved and Noah tipped his head in response, his gaze flickering back to the sidewalk in front of him in time to decide to round the corner rather than continue straight at the intersection. He wasn't sure where he was going or what he was doing, but at least he wasn't cooped up in the apartment complex and it had been far too long since he'd been able to just walk so he had every intention of enjoying it.

After all, there was no telling when it might all end.

Elle knew she hadn't been the best mother recently. She'd been trying to help Gabriel, as well as giving Noah the space she couldn't afford to give him back home. Her son had never had the luxury of normality, of relaxing and not having to worry that someone could find them. She'd spent so much time trying to protect Noah and keep him safe that she knew he'd missed out on most of the aspects of a regular child. Here, he'd had more of a chance to be independent and she let him have that. Still, she wondered if she was sacrificing her relationship with her son by giving him so much space.

She'd gone out for the afternoon, desperately in need of fresh air. Sometimes the apartments could be so stifling. She wasn't used to being around so many people with any sort of regularity, and it put her on edge. She and Gabriel had always chosen less crowded locations to live in. There was no point in tempting fate, and neither wanted to get innocent people killed. Walking through the city, just taking it all in and letting herself relax more than she usually did.

She spotted her son and smiled softly, giving a little wave. "Hey, stranger," she greeted him. "Haven't really seen much of you. Guess that's my own fault though. How are you, sweetheart?"

The sight of his mother - the one completely familiar presence in the entire city - brought a smile to Noah's face. He raised his own hand in greeting as he crossed to her, eyes raking over her form out of habit to make sure she wasn't injured in some way. Logically he knew she shouldn't be but after nearly fifteen years spent on the run and fighting for their very lives at times, it was as second nature to him as breathing.

"I'm probably as much to blame as you are. I probably wouldn't win any doting son awards lately," he admitted, peering down at her with a bit of a sheepish grin. It wasn't fair, he knew, that he hadn't been by to visit lately. It wasn't her fault that the man she was with wasn't the same Gabriel Gray that Noah called 'Dad'. Just like it wasn't Gabriel's fault either. But Noah couldn't help it that he felt somewhat uncomfortable around the man. It was like watching someone that wore his father's face but wasn't really him, going through the motions of a life that his dad would never truly have courtesy of Pinehearst back home. It hurt, to see, and so Noah had simply done what he could to stay away out of an albeit somewhat selfish desire to simply not be reminded that his dad was alone, back home, and would likely never see the peace and serenity that Colligo had to offer.

Giving a shrug of his shoulders, his hands still stuffed inside his pockets, he added, "I'm okay. Still half-expecting to wake up and find this has been some sort of weird dream. How about you?" He had almost forgotten just how much taller he was than his mother, anymore. At just under six feet, he had very nearly an entire foot over her and, although he wasn't stockily built by any means, even his wiry frame didn't diminish him all that much when compared to his mother.

"It's your first real opportunity to get out on your own," Elle said with an easy smile, "without me or your father panicking or someone trying to kill you. You should be allowed to take advantage of it. She knew that he wasn't comfortable being around Gabriel, since it wasn't actually his father, but part of her hoped he'd get past that. She loved Gabriel, no matter which version it was, and having some version around made it slightly easier to accept that her husband wasn't here.

"I'm all right," she said, looking up at Noah. "I miss your father, but Gabriel is nice company at least." She shrugged. "Where were you headed? Or were you just wandering? Because I wouldn't mind some quality time with my favorite son if you aren't busy."

"Just wandering," came his response before he flushed slightly and gave a mild roll of his eyes. "And we've discussed this before, Mom. I'm your only son. That means I'm your favorite by default." He grinned as he spoke, the familiar banter between himself and his mother the closest thing to normalcy he'd felt since, well, arriving in this place really.

He didn't bother commenting on Gabriel being nice company, or his own opportunity to get out on his own, or anything else she'd commented on. There wasn't much point in agreeing with things that were already obvious or showing discomfort at the mention of her spending time with a man that was most definitely not his father. Instead he glanced at their surroundings before giving her an inquisitive look.

"So did you have any place in mind? Anywhere in particular that you were heading?"
