WHO: Abby & a random local (NPC)
WHAT: Abby is starving and a vampire who doesn't know she's a vampire. Enough said.
WHEN: Late night.
WHERE: Random street in the city.
RATING: PG-13ish (to be safe)
STATUS: Complete; Narrative
NOTES: If someone wants to discover the body, feel free to respond in this post or simply post something to the network. Simply keep in mind that the victim will, by the time the sun rises, turn into a vampire. As per the type of vampire Abby is, when exposed to sunlight, they will explode into a rather impressive ball of fire, death, and destruction to anyone/anything within a fifty foot radius.

Abby - although she didn't know her name was Abby and was currently going by the name of Sarah - had tried. Really, she had. Ever since waking up on the streets with no memories to call her own, she had tried her very best to fill the aching hunger inside of her. At first, it had been a little tricky. With no idea where she lived, finding any food that wasn't already soured hadn't been easy. Fortunately, though, someone had spoken up and taken charge, and Abby had finally made her way to a shelter that had offered up free beds to anyone who needed one. Even then, though, the food she'd eaten hadn't helped. No matter what it was, no matter how small of servings she tried, she always managed to get sick, throw it back up, and the hunger would return with a vengeance.

And then there had been the noises. It had taken her a few days to realize that the steady thumping she was hearing at every turn was actually the heartbeats of those around her. Almost immediately following that, she'd slowly begun to understand that not everyone else had the same sense of smell, or sight, that she did either. It wasn't until she'd woken from a dream with a growl in her throat that sounded far more animal than human, though, that she had finally given up any attempt at fitting in and had fled the shelter in the middle of the night determined to find somewhere to stay where she wouldn't hurt someone as she was becoming more and more afraid she might do.

It hadn't worked, though. Less than half an hour after leaving the warm bed she'd been given, Abby caught the scent of someone bleeding and, just like that, fully lost control. Yes, it was just a small nosebleed - probably due to a bar fight if the stench of alcohol on the man's body was any indication - but it had been more than enough to set her over the edge. Leaping from the shadows with a vicious snarl, she quickly wrapped her legs around the man's waist and sank her suddenly razor sharp teeth into his throat. A feeling of euphoria - of finally, finally knowing what peace meant - washed over her as she drank her victim's blood in deep gulps. She could feel him growing weaker the longer she clung to him but she was beyond caring. All she knew, all she wanted to know, was that the hunger was finally starting to wane.

Then someone shouted in the distance and reality once again reasserted itself. Releasing the man who reeked of cheap liquor yet wore an expensive, custom-made suit, Abby took a flying leap back into the shadows. It was only then, as she watched the not-quite-lifeless form of the body on the pavement, that she truly began to understand.

She was a monster. An actual, living and breathing monster. If they found out, if anyone realized it, she would be killed. She was sure of it. She deserved it, even. Hand clamped over her mouth, eyes wide, she did the only thing she could think to do.

She turned on her heel and ran as quickly as she could, wanting to put as much distance between herself and everyone else as was possible.
