Canton wasn't really sure how to react to the presence of a child. He might have absolutely no idea who he was, but there was part of his mind that was insisting that if he had a kid, he should at least have some instincts on what to do in this situation. Instead, he was standing there, staring blankly at the large blue eyes staring at him from over the lip of a cardboard box, with absolutely no clue what he was supposed to do. Frozen in the moment, it took him several seconds for his mind to provide an appropriate reaction to the situation.
"Hey," Canton said, working to keep his voice low as he shifted, kneeling to be more at the kid's level. He couldn't tell how old she was, if she was scared of him, or if she was just shy, but he didn't want to come on too strong in case she was in a place where she knew about as much as he did. "Have you had anything to eat?" Canton asked, figuring it was the best question at the moment. It was the morning, after all, and it was more than likely she was hungry. He knew he was.
Though, the most important question of the moment would be to ask her name, but as he was still searching for his, it seemed like he would have to put that off until he had something to offer her up as well, something beyond them just being in the same apartment. But he didn't have any idea how long that might take.
