Who: Melinda and Jesse
Where: The apartment
When: BACKDATED to Friday night
What: Dinner together
Warnings: SFW

Melinda was at work putting stuff away from when the truck had came in. It was usually the canned fruit and the other ingredients for the pies. She did have some customers that came in as well, so you could say that it was a very busy day in the pie shop. But, she was glad because she was still really weirded out about her waking up and being married to a complete stranger. Yes, she had been here for over a year and had seen weird things, but this was just really awkward. But, she would get through it.

After the boxes were all put away and the customers were gone, she told her employees that she was going home early. She was tired, but she was also starving. Her and Jesse were going to be having dinner together, and hopefully they would get a chance to know more about each other. Grabbing a pie to take back with her, she grabbed her things and left for the apartment.

When she came home, she opened the door and entered and laid the pie on the counter. "I'm home." She said, in a kind of awkward voice. "I brought an extra pie as well." She sighed, she didn't want it to be awkward at all, but that was exactly what it was. "So uhhh did you have a good day?" She asked trying to start a conversation.

It might have been too much to hope that Jude and Melinda would get along. If only for a little while. He knew that Melinda tended to, unintentionally, rub Jude the wrong way. It would be an issue however long Asaph decided to make this forced marriage joke.

Then again.

Jesse had always went with the flow in Colligo. He knew that in a blink of an eye everything could change. It was everyone else that seemed to be wound up. He wouldn't say that he wasn't shocked to wake up with Melinda in his bed. He just didn't react as badly as some people did. He was more focused on if she was comfortable with him there or not. It didn't seem to be a problem yet. He would have to be sure that he was aware if he did become one.

He was glad that it didn't seem to bother his plans for that day. To sit on the couch and veg on his day off. He felt a little bad that he could put his arm around Jude.

Just about to doze off when he heard a female voice.

Jesse stood up and walked into the kitchen. "Hey," he said with a friendly smile. "It was pretty quiet but, yeah, I did have a good day."

Melinda didn't really like this at all. In fact, she just wanted this to end, it was just way too awkward, especially when this guy's girlfriend was her worse enemy. She didn't mean to always act like stuff never happens, she knew that stuff happened, it was just her initial reaction and she would do it without even thinking.

But with this, having to be married to someone that already was taken was not her way of marriage. But, she was just going to take this one day at a time and live her life the best way that she could. As she sat the pie that she had made on the counter and put her belongings away, she looked at Jesse.

"I bet that it was nice." She said with a laugh, "it beats having to unpack loads of boxes of ingredients and merchandise." She sighed as she washed her hands so that she could start dinner. Than going over to the fridge and cupboard she began to get the stuff that she needed for her pasta dish.

There was always something happening in Colligo. If it wasn't forced marriage it was gender swapping or strange soap opera moments. To be honest forced marriage wasn't as bad as it could be. They could actually want to 'be with' the ones they were forced with.

Jesse was going to do his best to make the most of what was happening. Even with his 'wife' and his girlfriend seemed to really hate each other.

"Don't worry. I'm sure I'll have to work harder tomorrow," he said as he got a pan for her to cook with. He wasn't about to have her do all the work. Especially since she had just got home from unpacking loads of boxes.

He set the pan onto the counter. "So what are we making?" he said sliding it closer to her. "And what can I do to help?"

Melinda was glad that this was just a simple one, mostly. At least she wasn't hallucinating that there were demons after her, and she wasn't a vampire. She could do this, all she had to do was get along with the guy and that would be it.

She would have to make peace with Jude somehow, maybe showing that she wasn't going to try anything with her boyfriend. And maybe Jesse would put in a good word with her too, she wasn't a bad person.

"I'm hoping for a solid day off, but since I'm manager, I don't really get that opportunity. I just want to be done with school already so that I don't have to run the pie shop and can run my own practice and office." She said.

"I thought about making this nice pasta dish that my mom used to make all the time. It has chicken, lots of vegetables, and a nice wine sauce with it." She put on an apron and grabbed a cutting board and a knife. "You could probably start cutting up these veggies." She then went and put water into the pot and put the noodles in there to boil. Then she plugged in the George Foreman grill. "Anything that you want to go with the pasta that you like?" She asked.

Forced marriage.

Out of everything that has happened to Jesse over his time he it was pretty time. He was placed with a nice girl but he just wished that it was someone that got along with Jude. He knew that she wasn't the easiest to get along with he just noticed something about them two. It wasn't just the forced marriage. They never seemed to be on friendly terms. He wished there was something that he could do about that.

He slightly turned his head to look at her as she spoke.

Maybe if he became friends with her it would make it easier for Jude. He hoped that neither of them would make him chose if it happened. Nah. He knew that they wouldn't but he couldn't see them being best friends. Not as odds would be enough for him.

"Maybe you should hire an assistant manager," he suggested as a way for her to get a day off.

Jesse smiled as she talked about her mother's pasta dish. "It sounds great," he said as he moved over to where she set the cutting board. It wasn't much but it was enough for him to feel like he was helping. "Everything you have planned sounds great."

She was glad that she had talked to Tamora about her almost being married. This kind of thing just scared her to death. But, she was going to deal with it and the proper way. No use in getting scared and running off, that would do no good.

And if she didn't get along with Jude than so be it. She was her own self and there was no need for her to try and be friends with her. It was hopeless at this point in time. So she just sighed and promised herself that once this was all over, she was going to go back to being herself again. The fun loving person that loves to laugh. It wasn't as if she wasn't happy right now, if she just had a good time talking and joking around, maybe this whole thing will go really fast.

"Yeah, I could try. I do have employees and everything. Its on my to do list, I was going to ask Buffy, but with her being pregnant, I thought that I would wait a little while." She said shrugging.

"My mother is a really great cook. I was so thankful that I have her recipe book with me." She said as she put the chicken breast on the grill and closed the lid. "And I'm sorry for rambling so much, I tend to do that when I get nervous and planning everything out, I'm usually very spontaneous." She said with a little bit of a laugh.
