WHO: Benny Lafitte & Ellen Harvelle WHAT: Benny came across a bunch of straggling locals who were somehow banged up but still alive. He took them to the one place nearby that he knew might actually be able to help. WHERE: The Roadhouse WHEN: January 6th; Afternoon RATING: PG-13 STATUS: In Progress
EXTERMINATE!
The wisk of the Dalek laser overhead as enough to get Benny eager to leave the area. He'd patched up the locals that he'd come across as best as he could, but there was only so much that a vampire with limited supplies on his person could do especially when they were pinned down in a virtual warzone. "Go, go, go!" Benny shouted, shoving each of the locals that he'd found out across the area that he'd pointed out as the most sheltered for them to escape through. The second that the last was out, Benny turned to follow them, barely dodging another laser blast as it winged past him.
The jerk and evaporation of a body in front of him would have stalled him if he had been a weaker man, if he hadn't seen hundreds of people fall, if he hadn't killed many of them himself, and the shout of his voice to keep going to the others as the showed the signs of hesitating rang out over the shrill cries of the Daleks that they were leaving behind. They'd lost one. They'd lost one, but Benny had figured that he would be lucky to get out of there and out into the open with half the group, much less only one death, and as he shouted out directions, herding the locals down the street and around a corner as the Daleks gave chase, he couldn't help but think that he'd actually done pretty well as far as things went.
The Roadhouse wasn't the closest building to where they had run off. There were plenty of others buildings that they could have hidden in along the way, but Benny knew out there that they would have been as much sitting ducks as they had been in the alleyway that he'd first stumbled across them crouching in. But as he approached the perimeter of the building, Benny felt a quiet relief flood into him. They would be safe here. And he could at least rest for awhile before heading back out.
