It wouldn't make her less of a target. It would only change the location of the target, something that Lucifer would be willing to keep doing until this was all over, but apparently, she didn't want to run. Not that he could blame her. Running never really made anything better. It only made it clear that the individual in question was too weak to stand up for themselves, to afraid, and while that wouldn't be the situation here, Lucifer imagined that would be how his Uncle would take it. If he could, he'd probably focus that much more on the Winchester family from then on out. They were a fascinating group of people, really, but even Heaven's connection to them didn't give any of them a right to throw this much their way.

"We could always do that," Lucifer said, a thoughtful look crossing his face at Claire's suggestion before he took a sip of his tea. "There's plenty of locals that I could corral and get to stand there. If they want to survive, they won't blink." All right, it was probably not the sort of idea that Claire would agree to. It would put the local population at too much of a risk, and they were just as human as the nonlocal residents to her, to anyone who didn't have a less than concerned stance on humanity. It might have not seemed like that big a sacrifice to him, but well, little usually did.

"Do animals work as well as humans? I could summon a bunch of cats or birds or something. Then there wouldn't be any worries about them potentially being sacrificed to the temporal void."
