When Jim had first begun to call her by the shortened version of the nickname she already used, Seven hadn't been quite sure what to think of it. 'Sev'. It was short, odd-sounding on her tongue, and so extremely informal that had anyone else used it she likely would have felt uncomfortable. However, as their relationship progressed from purely professional to friends and then, ultimately, to something more, Seven had grown almost fond of the name. It was something that only Jim used, something special and unique between the two of them.
And when she'd been turned back into her normal self after some time spent as an alternate version of the young Annika Hansen, Seven had missed the name almost as much as she'd missed the man.
To hear it again only confirmed what she already knew to be true. Jim was, at long last, back to his original self. Relief that she neither voiced nor showed washed over her and a hint of a smile curved the corner of her mouth upward. He couldn't see it, not from her position crouched in front of the large counter top-style table in the middle of Astrometrics, but it was there nonetheless.
Finishing with the task she'd been working on - mainly welding together a few wires that young Annika had taken apart 'just to see what they did' - Seven rose back to her full height and eyed the man from across the room. Her eyes shone with emotion that wasn't quite evident upon her face unless you knew how to recognize it. Her tone was even, yet still lined with an undercurrent of pleasure as she responded.
"I am here," she stated simply. "I am merely attempting to repair the damage caused to the system due to Annika's natural curiosity."
