Entry tags:loki laufeyson, spike

WHO: Loki Laufeyson & OPEN
WHAT: Loki goes to Eden, mostly to be a giant dick about stepping into Parker's territory, but also because, well, he's bored and the isolation is starting to get to him.
WHEN: September 14th; Evening
WHERE: Eden
RATING: PG
STATUS: In Progress

There were plenty of other places he could have gone in order to surround himself with strangers, more than his fair share in a city this size, but there was something in Loki that urged him to go someplace that would just grate upon the young woman who seemed so determined to hate him. He could admit, at least privately to himself, that he had done more than enough to deserve her ire. He had been at his worst when they had spoken, driven by his darker ambitions, and while he felt that he had at least calmed the worst of that here, there was no reason for her to accept his claim. It was with a certain hint of amusement, though, that he accepted her loathing of him, and the mischief that ruled his heart with provoked him to try and antagonize her with his very existence.

This bit of mischief from their host had left him cut off from everyone that he valued here, surrounded by strangers and individuals he had only spoken with in passing, and while Loki had never truly been a social animal like his brother or the Warriors Three could claim to be, complete and total separation from those that he cared about was truly a burden to bear. Which was what had pushed him to get out of his apartment, to wander the streets, and ultimately, to come upon the Eden with the dual purpose in his mind to annoy the young blond thief while finding at least some temporary companionship.

That was, if he was able to stay in this place for very long, with the way the guards about the casino tables were eyeing him. Games of chance had always been one of Loki's fortes. He couldn't help that he was winning. Well, he could, but where would the fun in that be?

Spike had spent years alone, with only Drusilla as company, but having spent over a year in Colligo, surrounded by people that he actually cared about meant that isolation was not working to his advantage anymore. He missed Buffy more than he'd ever admit to anyone besides her and he even missed the rest of his friends. Having never really had friends before, it was a whole new concept to actually miss someone else with no ulterior motive involved. It was because he missed his friends that he had wandered over to Eden that evening. He knew he wouldn't be able to see Ashley and there was no way to know if she was even actually there, but knowing that it was a place where one of his friends often was made the difference. It was a different feeling then hanging around his apartment and just getting frustrated that Buffy was somewhere about, but that he couldn't actually see her.

If this had been a year ago, Spike probably would have been incline to cheat at whatever games he was playing, but knowing that Ashley wouldn't hesitate to kick his ass and knowing that she could take him, easily, had changed things. Not to mention, he actually had plenty of money to piss away if he happened to be having a bad night. On this particular night, Spike was simply wandering, glancing at each of the tables, waiting for something to catch his fancy.

"And 35 black! Winner again!" Loki sat straight backed as the chips were pushed across the table towards him, the guards turning to glance at each other and whisper back and forth. Loki had always been well tuned to recognizing situations where he wasn't wanted, and that vibe was ever increasing in this place. And as he pushed the chips back across the table, deftly placing the entire pile on "0", it seemed to reach an intense pitch. As he'd yet to lose a spin, a feat nigh unheard of in games of pure chance like Roulette, and had amassed quite a fortune in front of him, the pay out on a win of "0" would put a rather severe mark in the casino's books. Of course, Loki thought, smiling at the tension around him, seemingly palpable in both the guests and employees, he had absolutely no intention of winning so the call of, "11 Red!" didn't phase him in the least, just smirking at the men who know looked wholly befuddled (they must have been anticipating getting to chuck someone out on their ear for cheating) and throwing his hands up in a mock defeat.

"Oh, well. Win some, lose some. Eh, boys?" Loki asked with a laugh before turning away from the table and snagging a drink off the tray of a passing waitress before moving back off into the crowd.

Spike had been passing by the Roulette table when his attention was drawn to the generous stack of chips sitting in front of the man, who he recognized as Loki. He hadn't technically met Loki, but he knew that not only did he know Red and Tara, but everyone knew that he'd pretty much saved the town from that Fear Toxin. Quirking a brow, Spike watched as the God bet all his chips on "0" and inwardly groaning as the small fortune was lost. Sure, Spike had plenty of the shiny stuff he'd received back at actual Christmas to make up his own small fortune, but the thought of losing that much money left a bad taste in Spike's mouth.

"Bad move, mate," Spike said as Loki grabbed the drink off the passing waitress, "Hate the thought of losing that much money." Based souly on the looks the guards had been giving Loki, it didn't take a genius to figure out exactly why he'd done it, but Spike wouldn't be Spike if he didn't give him a hard time about it.

"It'll hardly take any time at all to rebuild the amount," Loki said with a quirk of a smile as he glance sidelong at the man who had addressed him. The man was one of those that came from the same universe as Tara and Willow, Spike, Loki was pretty sure he was called even though he had only ever really seen him before in passing. Which certainly explained why he was able to see in at the moment. "Losing is better than being permanently ejected from the casino. Especially since I would hardly go quietly, and I doubt the establishment's owners would appreciate me putting most of their guard staff in traction," Loki said with a hint of amusement as he sipped his drink. "Besides, money is rather immaterial to my existence most of the time. Nice considering this place, but not exactly necessary."

"Suppose that makes enough sense." A slow smirk crossed Spike's lips at the thought of Ashley rumbling with Loki. While he didn't know which of the two was actually stronger, considering Loki was the God of Mischief and all, but having sparred with Ashley on more than one occasion as well as having fought her the time she'd killed him, he knew that the other vampire would definitely give it her all. Come to think of it, that was a fight Spike would gladly sit and watch, "Wouldn't go counting your eggs before they hatch. I'm pretty sure there's at least one bouncer here who could give you a run for your money," His smirk widened at the pun. "So, you probably chose right."
