Regulus jumped a little when it became apparent that Severus was perfectly aware of what he had been thinking. "No! I wasn't-" he began to protest, then cut himself off and shook his head. "Aw, that's a bleeding lie. Yeah, I thought it. But even if it was the case that you were going to stab me in the back, it's too late now anyway, so I might as well enjoy myself." He grinned and took another swig.
Oh, if Severus only knew what he had actually done. Only some of the little buggers from the future seemed to know the full extent of his treachery. He'd consider himself infinitely lucky if the wand of a fellow Death Eater was all he saw before he died. He'd be begging for death if he were ever to be delivered to the Dark Lord.
But he really, REALLY didn't want to think about that. Ever.
He wondered briefly why Severus couldn't go running to someone even if he wanted to. Perhaps there was more to the other wizard than Regulus knew. But that was probably one of those things they weren't going to talk about. And the younger Black had no intention of reading those foolish books to find out. There was no telling what he might find out.
"It may check out, but we'll have a brilliant time until then, won't we?" He cocked a mischievous eyebrow at the other wizard and chuckled.
