WHO: James Sirius Potter and Elphaba Thropp
WHAT: Jamie is working and Elphaba comes into the shop
WHEN: Tuesday, August 28th; Late Afternoon
WHERE: Something Wicca This Way Comes
RATING: PG
STATUS: In Progress

For the last few weeks, Jamie had been attempting to use less unnecessary magic at work so as to prevent accidentally destroying valuable or scarce items. Working for someone who wasn't his Uncle had definitely taken some getting used to, especially since Constantine was the complete opposite of George, but he was beginning to really get it and the only spell he was really using the cut corners was levitation and only with things like stacks of books or candles or other items that didn't pose a threat of exploding or breaking if they were dropped. Today he was unloading a box of candles, but instead of levitating the box he simply had it resting on the floor by the shelf he was setting them up on. More than once he'd been tempted to simply use a spell to unload them, but while it would be faster, he knew that doing it the old fashioned way was the best way to go so that he didn't accidently break the shelf or something, which was what was bound to happen and with his luck, Constantine would happen to walk by just as it happened. So, he resigned himself to use his judgement on the best way to display them.

As he set the thick candles out onto the shelf and moved them around so that they all fit, he heard the bell over the door ding behind him and glanced over his shoulder to see if he would need to help the new arrival.

Elphaba was still completely and wholeheartedly under the impression that magic was a waste of time. It wasn't a real subject. It hadn't been one in Shiz and just because she'd been kidnapped to the land of the criminally insane did not mean that the rules had to change. It was a hobby, and little more. Something to pass the time when she was stuck 'keeping her head down'. Which was a bloody great laugh in itself. As if she blended in well enough for that.

Still, despite her protests, Elphaba was good at her 'hobby'. And there was something about it that drew her in. So although she had no intention of going into this particular shop on her way home, for some reason she found herself pushing the door open and stepping inside.

There was a young man arranging candles on a shelf, who turned to look at her when she came. Apart from that the place was empty. Elphaba met his eye sternly for a moment - almost challenging him to say something - before turning away and walking determinedly across the shop floor to where the books were stacked.

Anyone else probably would have been shocked at seeing a woman with green skin, but aside from the fact that Jamie had seen her on the Network already, he wasn't exactly from a place where that sort of thing was out of the ordinary. Okay, so maybe he'd never met anyone with green skin before, but he had met ghosts, half giants and many other creatures during his time at Hogwarts, so it wasn't exactly a big shock to him when she walked into the shop.

As he met her eyes, he quirked a brow, recognizing the challenge in them. Anyone else probably would have steered clear, but just like how Not!Molly had practically told him not to ask any questions, Jamie wasn't one to listen when someone told him not to do something. So after setting the last of the candles on the shelf and dismantling the box, he crossed the shop to the bookcases where the green skinned woman was, "Looking for anything in particular?" He asked, quirking a brow quizzically.
