WHO: Roy Harper & Barbara Gordon
WHAT: Drunken archery = bad idea
WHEN: Tuesday, July 3rd. Evening
WHERE: The Park
RATING: PG probably
STATUS: In Progress
Had he not been quite so drunk, Roy would have realized that shooting off arrows while inebriated was a very bad idea, but as it was, he was more than quite drunk and could have cared less right now about rules and what was safe or not safe. Lian was gone. Kate was gone. Forge was gone. And most of all Helena was gone. Helena who he'd actually started to fall in love with was gone and now he was alone again, just like usual. Sure, Babs was still there, but it wasn't the same. He'd been drinking since he'd got off his shift at the Station earlier that afternoon and somehow had decided to go back to his apartment and get his bow and quiver and a twelve pack and head to the park. After draining four bottles, he'd set them up on a picnic table and had shot at each, missing three and shattering the last. Bringing a fifth bottle to his lips, he drained the it and instead of setting it on the table with the others, he'd gotten the bright idea to toss it in the air and quickly, albeit drunkenly, notched an arrow and let it fly at the rapidly dropping bottle. As the arrow missed the bottle and sailed into the trees, the bottle hit the ground and smashed against a rock, "Fuck...."
Reaching for the sixth bottle, Roy stumbled and almost feel, but caught himself against a nearby tree, bow still in one hand, the other wrapped around a low hanging branch as the park began to spin around him. Deep down, in the small part of his brain that was still sober, he knew that Helena wouldn't want him to do this, but he also knew that this was not the worst thing he could have done in his grief. If he'd really wanted to get fucked up, he knew of a few places in town where he could have gotten some heroin; being part of the Police Department had it's perks, but considering how hard he'd worked to get clean, he wasn't about to throw it all away just because he was upset. Drinking however, did the job to numb the pain and when it wore off all that he'd be left with was a killer headache instead of withdrawals. Once the park stopped spinning, Roy pushed himself away from the tree and retrieved the sixth beer.
