WHO: Roy Harper & Barbara Gordon
WHAT: Drunken archery = bad idea
WHEN: Tuesday, July 3rd. Evening
WHERE: The Park
RATING: PG probably
STATUS: In Progress

Had he not been quite so drunk, Roy would have realized that shooting off arrows while inebriated was a very bad idea, but as it was, he was more than quite drunk and could have cared less right now about rules and what was safe or not safe. Lian was gone. Kate was gone. Forge was gone. And most of all Helena was gone. Helena who he'd actually started to fall in love with was gone and now he was alone again, just like usual. Sure, Babs was still there, but it wasn't the same. He'd been drinking since he'd got off his shift at the Station earlier that afternoon and somehow had decided to go back to his apartment and get his bow and quiver and a twelve pack and head to the park. After draining four bottles, he'd set them up on a picnic table and had shot at each, missing three and shattering the last. Bringing a fifth bottle to his lips, he drained the it and instead of setting it on the table with the others, he'd gotten the bright idea to toss it in the air and quickly, albeit drunkenly, notched an arrow and let it fly at the rapidly dropping bottle. As the arrow missed the bottle and sailed into the trees, the bottle hit the ground and smashed against a rock, "Fuck...."

Reaching for the sixth bottle, Roy stumbled and almost feel, but caught himself against a nearby tree, bow still in one hand, the other wrapped around a low hanging branch as the park began to spin around him. Deep down, in the small part of his brain that was still sober, he knew that Helena wouldn't want him to do this, but he also knew that this was not the worst thing he could have done in his grief. If he'd really wanted to get fucked up, he knew of a few places in town where he could have gotten some heroin; being part of the Police Department had it's perks, but considering how hard he'd worked to get clean, he wasn't about to throw it all away just because he was upset. Drinking however, did the job to numb the pain and when it wore off all that he'd be left with was a killer headache instead of withdrawals. Once the park stopped spinning, Roy pushed himself away from the tree and retrieved the sixth beer.

Babs was worried about Roy. Very worried. She knew that losing Helena was quite hard on him, and that he wanted to go and get drunk. Not that she blamed him of course, she had said that she would go out with him. But somehow she figured that he wasn't waiting for her to join him at some bar. That's why she had to use all of her impressive computer skills to find him. She had to use street cameras and things but eventually got his last known whereabouts and headed in that direction.

She headed to the park, since it seemed like he was headed that way before. All she could hear was some noise in the dark and him shooting off arrows. Great. Well she hoped that they weren't being shot in her general direction. "Roy?" she called out as loudly as she could. She wasn't sure where he was exactly. Though hopefully he wouldn't shoot things in the direction of her voice if he knew where she was.

"It's Babs. Where.. where are you?"

Hearing his name being called, it took Roy a moment or two, to place the voice to the person it belonged to. Realizing it was Babs, he took the bottle away from his mouth, green eyes scanning the perimeter of the space he had set up, "Babsy? Is that you?" It was obvious in his tone that he'd been drinking, his words slightly slurred, "I'm o'er here...." As if that told Babs everything she needed to know in order to find him, but in Roy's alcohol soaked mind it made perfect sense. He hadn't actually expected anyone to come looking for him, even if he should have assumed that Babs would. She was the eyes and ears of the streets after all and she knew everything that went on, what with all her cameras and the ability to hack into other security cameras around the city. He really wouldn't be surprise if she had cameras hidden in the park. After all, everyone knew that all the shady deals went down in the park. Not to mention, it was where they'd found a couple bodies.

Oh joy, now she would have to find him in the dark by the sound of his voice. "Okay, just keep talking so that I can find you!" she called out. That and follow the scent of alcohol. That was easy enough to find. Eventually though she found him, which she was glad for. She did not want to go and run around the park, looking for him all night long. She just wanted to make sure that he was okay, and maybe get him home safely once he was ready to go.

Let's hope she didn't walk over any bodies.

"Hey," she greeted. "How are you holding up? Besides.. really drunk."

"Fine. Never better. Why wouldn't I be fine?" Roy gestured with the beer bottle in hand then held the half empty bottle out towards Babs, "Want one, Babsy? Got..." Roy squinted down at the box near the tree, "...some left..." Counting was not to be expected of Roy at the moment. The park might have been dark, but there was some light from the moon and Babs would be able to see the empty bottles on the picnic table and shattered glass of the two bottles that he'd broken. There were also loose arrows around the picnic table, which he knew he'd have to retrieve before he left, but for the moment he couldn't be bothered to pick them up.

"Just making sure, I guess." Babs shrugged, feeling stupid for asking him how he was. Clearly he was not good. And she was going to have to carry him home, she could already tell. "Are you sure there's some actual left? It seems like you might have .. drunk them all." He had put quite a bit away, clearly. Though she did go over and pick up a bottle to see if it had any in it. One couldn't hurt. She was supposed to be commiserating after all. "Thanks. I think this one is actually full. Go figure."

"I didn't drink em all, Babsy." If Roy had been sober, he would have remembered that Babs preferred not to be called that, but seeing as he was quite drunk he wasn't really aware of exactly what he was saying, for the most part. "There's plenty to share...." Draining his bottle, he tossed the bottle onto the ground then picked up his bow again and notched an arrow, squinting at the bottles, which remained intact on the picnic table, "Damn bottles...keep missing em..." He pulled back on the bow, attempting to aim even though he was seeing double the number of bottles that were actually lined up on the table.

She would let the whole Babsy thing slide this time, but that was it. Only because he was very drunk and in pain. She grabbed an unopened beer and opened it up. She was trying so very hard not to pick them all up out of some sense of OCD. "Roy.. Roy, I'm not trying to tell you what to do or anything, but you could have actually shot me. So maybe the arrows aren't an actual good idea at the moment."

Yeah, he knew that it was a very bad idea, but he was too drunk and too upset to care right, "But I didn't, now did I?" Pulling back on the bow, Roy let the arrow loose and it sailed right between two of the bottles, "...fuck..." Dropping the bow on the ground, which he never would have done had he been sober, Roy stooped to grab yet another bottle and this time he tripped over his own feet and tumbled to the ground, the remaining arrows in the quiver on his back scattered in the grass. "God dammit...." Roy hadn't been this bad since the alternate heroine addict version of him had replaced him sometime ago.

"No, I appreciate you not almost killing me." She wasn't sure how the heck she was going to convince him to go home, or anything else for that matter. But she'd be a dutiful friend and wait until he passed out. Hopefully, if she didn't fall asleep first. "I'm pretty sure that beating things with a baseball bat is easier." Not that he should be doing that, but at least she might not be in so much danger then.

With a sigh, Babs went over to help him pick his things up, not even bothering to laugh that he'd fallen down. She didn't want to be that much of a jerk. "Roy.. let me take you home."

The arrows that Roy was currently using had been made by Forge and even though they weren't the trick ones, which he used only when they were absolutely necessary, they were still pretty state of the art and not your run of the mill arrows one might pick up at a store. "No reason to go home..." His apartment reminded him of Lian and Helena. Helena had lived down the hall, but had spent an awful lot of time at his place, considering she had spent the night quite a few times.

Gathering the fallen arrows, he managed to remove the quiver from his back and refilled it then, unsteadily, got to his feet. He contemplated another beer, but his head was spinning so bad that he couldn't even remember where he'd put the box even though it was only less than a foot away from him now.

Right, of course there was no reason to go home. Babs felt like that most days, though she hadn't lost anyone. "Okay, well do you want to come to mine? Because you can't stay out here all night, Roy. Eventually you're going to have to go in." Hopefully. Maybe. Though now she realized that she was sounding like a nag, so she sighed. "Sorry, I didn't mean it like that. I just mean, if you want a place to crash, you can stay with me for a bit." If he didn't actually want to come in, she wouldn't make him.

If only there was a way to help. She watched, just making sure that he didn't actually hurt himself or anything.

Somehow even as drunk as he was, Barbara's offer made it through and he glanced over at her as everything slowly stopped spinning and Babs came into focus. He stared at her for a few moments, the only sounds being those of the animals who inhabited the park and the distant sound of cars, "Yeah." He didn't really care where he stayed, but right now the last thing he wanted to do was go back to his apartment and walk by Helena's empty apartment or have to look at the empty bedroom, which had belonged to Lian the last time she had been there. "Okay....I'll go with you..." He didn't know why he was agreeing so easily when what he really wanted was to find some thug and just beat the crap out of him in an attempt to make himself feel better, but he agreed and even as drunk as he was, he wasn't going to go back on it.

Quite grateful that it looked like she didn't have to call Stephanie to drag Roy to his room, Babs didn't necessarily want to rush him home. Though it would be easier to get him settled once he was actually settled. "Yeah? Great. You can stay as long as you want to. I've got an extra bedroom and it's not like I don't have the room." Not to mention that she would just worry about him. Hopefully fighting wouldn't occur, but she'd make sure that he didn't get hurt if it did. In between now and going to her place.

"Are you.. ready? Or do you want to sit and drink some more?"
