While waiting for Stefan to arrive, Lexi had cleaned up the apartment and played with Tom so that he wouldn't feel left out when Stefan got there. Then again, chances were, the Mogwai would probably try to get Stefan's attention as it was clear that he liked the other vampire. Lexi had been impressed by just how intelligent the creature actually was when the Doctor had first given him to her and he really had been a godsend after Huck had been sent back. If she'd been completely alone in the apartment during that time, she wasn't entirely sure what she would have done. She still wasn't completely over his being sent home, even if she did seem like in on the outside. If she thought that she'd been devastated when he'd first been sent home last summer, it was even worse the second time, because she knew what she'd lost this time. She knew about the son they could have had and that Huck would have become a vampire, but now there was little chance of that happening and she wasn't entirely sure how to move on from this.

However, as down as she was, she wasn't going to let it stop her from trying to help Stefan. He was her best friend and she knew how much he cared about Elena and if there was a chance that they could be together again and be happy, she would put aside her own feelings and do whatever it took. At the same time, Elijah was her Sire and she knew how Stefan felt about the Original so that complicated things just a little. She didn't doubt that what Elijah had said in his post was true and she didn't think that he had any ulterior motives. Truthfully, the ball was in Elena's court. She knew that Elijah and Elena hadn't gotten off to the best start, but with Elena being a vampire now, things really were different and honestly, Lexi had no idea who had a better shot at Elena's affections.

Stefan wasn't really sure what to do about Elena. He had never really been challenged for her affections, save for Damon. Damon was well occupied with Caroline, and he actually seemed happy. Stefan actually liked them together, the more he saw them. There were changes in his brother that he wouldn't have thought possible. As for Elena, he had decided to take things slow. At home, she had insisted again and again that she loved him, and that she wouldn't give up on him, but when he was indulging his addiction, he didn't think clearly. It was the same as a typical crack addict, the way blood affected him. He still had urges and they were really strong when he was under stress. It was all he could do to keep from going on a rampage on the way to Lexi's, but he had stopped himself.

He knocked on the door, even though he could have just walked in. He was still a gentleman. He was just a confused gentleman, and the more he talked to Elena, the more confused he became. Was she really giving Elijah a chance? Had he screwed up that badly, or was their love just not strong enough and could he let her go and move on? His fists had balled up, and he leaned back against the wall, feeling all the tension.

Hearing the knock at the door, Lexi smiled at Tom, who was sitting on her chest, "I think Stefan's here." Of course she'd known it before he'd even knocked; after all, Stefan had a specific scent. Really, everyone had a specific scent and having a heightened sense of smell, Lexi was able to pick up on it even when someone was down the hall. Moving Tom to the coffee table, Lexi got to her feet and was at the door in a flash, "Are you going to hold that wall up or come inside?" She leaned against the door frame, arms folded as she watched Stefan.

"The wall was looking a little weak. It might need something to hold it when I leave," Stefan said, trying to fake a little bit of a smile. Normally, Lexi could snap him out of a mood but this was not a good kind of mood to be in. She could get him away from his problems, or even put them down for a bit, but right now, he doubted anything could do that.

He walked inside and sat on the sofa. "Bring on the ice cream." He took a sip out of the bag he had in his jacket pocket. He was trying the moderation instead of returning to animals, but he wasn't sure how well that was working. He really wanted to just suck down the whole bag and then another.

"If the wall hasn't fallen down by now, I'm sure it'll last a few more hours." Stefan had always been rather broody, but this time he was extra broody and Lexi's first instinct was to try and cheer him up. "But if you want to stay out here then more ice cream for me." She smirked as she watched her best friend move away from the wall and finally come inside. While they'd been talking in the doorway, Tom had managed to climb off the table and had situated himself on the couch by the time Stefan sat down and was staring up at him with his big eyes before making a face when Stefan drank from the blood bag. It was much the same as the face he made whenever Lexi drank blood around him. She'd be lying if she said that it didn't amuse her considering his alter ego was a blood thirty little monster; luckily The Doctor had managed alter the Mogwai's genetics, so no matter what time she fed him he wouldn't turn into a Gremlin.

"The ice cream is broughten." Lexi said as she sat down on the couch, next to Tom who was seated between them and handed Stefan the pint of Cherry Garcia and a spoon, "So, what's going on?" Of course she knew what was going on, but it seemed the best place to start.

Stefan put the bag down on the table. He wished he didn't need it anymore, or didn't crave it. He was at a place where he could get through it. He actually wished he was more like Damon, at least in the area of control, or in the area of stable relationships.

He dipped a spoon in the ice-cream, letting it wash away the taste of the blood. Ice-cream did make everyone feel better. "Hi Tom," he said to the creature sitting next to him. He gave him a friendly scratch.

"I think Elena might decide to give Elijah a chance." She might have eventually given Damon a shot too. He would have felt a little better about that. He actually didn't question the fact that Damon would have been good to her, at least in his own way. "I really managed to screw up this time. I don't know how to get over it." It was a defeatist attitude, and he usually didn't have that, but he also was very aware of the things he had done. He made his own bed, and he was lying in it.

"Hey, no blood bags on the table." Lexi reached over and flicked Stefan's ear, smirking before going back to her own ice cream while Tom made a little contented sound between then when Stefan scratched between his large ears, "He is such a little cuddle slut." At times she still couldn't quite believe that she had a Mogwai; sure, she'd seen Gremlins when it had come out, dragging Lee to go see it with her and thought that Gizmo was the cutest thing ever, but she'd never in a million years thought that she'd own one. Sometimes Colligo was a pretty awesome place.

Swallowing the spoonful of ice cream, she glanced over at Stefan, "Do you blame her after the things you did to her? I mean, I know that Elijah basically stalked her and caused her to stab herself so that you guys could trick him and stake him, but from what I hear, you were a pretty big ass." Lexi being as outspoken as she was on a normal basis, wasn't really sure if any of that was because of the truth compulsion that was sweeping over Colligo at the moment or if she would have said all of that normally. She was pretty sure it was the latter, but who knew for sure.

Stefan didn't move the bag. He'd need it later. He hated his dependence on them. Following Klaus had been awful. He had given up, knowing how he was changing. "I don't blame her at all. I all but shoved her away. She saw me at my worst and I was so far gone that I didn't care.".

He took another spoonful of ice cream. "If I had to do it again, I would have done the same thing. I wouldn't have let Damon die. I can't say it's because she doesn't believe in me. Why should she? I'm a mess. Getting better but I don't know if I will snap again. I don't want to lose her.". He leaned back into the cushion with a spoon hanging out of his mouth. "Tell me how screwed I am."

Truthfully, Lexi didn't really mind the blood bag, as long as it didn't leak on her coffee table. After all, she also got her blood out of bags and on occasion had left them on the table; more now that Huck was gone, but that had more to do with her not having much of a drive to do anything when she was home. She knew that she was going to have to snack out of it eventually, but for the time being, she thought it was perfectly reasonable that she still missed Huck as much as she did. "Yes, you screwed up big time. You used her in order to try and freak out Klaus when you probably could have told her your plan and I'm sure she would have gone along. Instead you chose to make her believe that you were going to kill her in the same spot where her parents died." Lexi had heard all about the bridge incident when Stefan had been in Colligo a few months ago and truth be told, she couldn't help but be a little disappointed in him.

"Look, I understand why you did everything that you did. Damon was dying and the only way to save him was to go with Klaus and I know that Klaus is a major asshole and you couldn't help some of the things that you did, but if you're really sorry for the things that you did to Elena then you have to talk to her and let the chips fall where they may." Lexi ate another spoonful of ice cream then let her head rest against the back of the couch and turned it to look at Stefan, "If she still loves you then you have a chance, but you'll never know if you don't talk to her."

"I know," he sighed, scratching the mogwai behind the ears. "I had to make her believe it though or it wouldn't have worked. I should have done something else, found another way." Lexi might have been disappointed, but he was even more so in himself. He had made some bad choices when he was craving, but this one was one of the worst. Killing was heartless, but it was a part of their lives, who they were. This was even worse. The dead didn't have to live with the pain, but Elena did.

"I have told her that I was sorry, and I am going to talk to her." He wasn't so proud that he couldn't admit when he was wrong. "I did get over the blood craze, but I don't know if it will happen again from something else. I don't know if she will ever trust me again."

"Why do you trust me? You've saved me quite a few times when I fell off the wagon. You know what it's like. You haven't left me yet."

"Ya think?" Lexi and Stefan had been friends long enough that unless Stefan was acting like a Grade A asshole, like he had the last time he was in Colligo, he wouldn't get upset or offended by anything she said, "And you can't just tell her that you're sorry. You have to show her. And yes, I know I just told you that you have to talk to her and now I'm contradicting myself, but you know what I'm getting at."

Placing her ice cream on the coffee table, Lexi moved so that she was laying across the couch, her legs draped over Stefan's lap while Tom remained in the space next to Stefan near Lexi's knees, "And as for why I trust you, it must be my fatal flaw." She smirked at Stefan as she retrieved her ice cream, "But in all seriousness, if I could forgive Damon for killing me then I can forgive you for going to the Dark Side."

"I wanted to give her time, and get to know her again, and not rush us. Elijah stepped in, and I know that she makes her own choices, but I didn't think she would seriously consider this as an option." It bothered him, even if he had put this in motion. He couldn't help it.

"I wanted to truly get over the blood too, but I still want it. You have no idea how much I wanted to find a few and just drain them dry until I didn't have to think anymore." That did explain the blood bag that was very close to him. He was not sucking it down, but that was because he had a full bag before he left.

"I know that the thought of Elijah having warm and fuzzies for Elena bothers you, but are you really surprised? I mean, Elena's awesome. Who wouldn't like her like that?" Lexi smirked as she ate a spoonful of ice cream. She knew part of the reason Stefan, Damon and Elijah were all head over heels for Elena was because she was the doppelgänger and she couldn't help but wonder if any of them would have been so drawn to her had they not been identical to one another. Was it her resemblance that they were attracted to or Elena herself. Never having been one to pass up an easy opportunity to find something out, Lexi decided to take full advantage of the fact that Stefan wasn't going to be able to lie right now, "So, in all seriousness, are you in love with Elena because she looks like Katherine or is there more?" She didn't think that Stefan would see Elena as an opportunity to get something he'd missed out on with Katherine, but she was curious and Lexi and curiosity weren't good combinations.

Lexi knew how difficult it was for Stefan to get off blood, but to be honest, she thought that if he drank bagged and learned to have control over how much he drank, then he'd be much better off than if he went back to the bunny blood.

Stefan looked annoyed. His eyes narrowed and he couldn't shake the scowl. "Katherine didn't fool me. She compelled me to drink her blood, but I knew what she was. I was over her a long time before I met Elena." He didn't even realize that he still had to tell the truth. That was simply what it was.

"At first, I didn't even want to date her because she looked like Katherine. I avoided her, but then I couldn't do that anymore. I know she isn't like Katherine. That's one thing I like most about her."
