WHO: Spike and Ashley Magnus
WHAT: Just vampire buddies hanging out and talking about possible futures
WHEN: Thursday, May 31st. Late Evening
WHERE: Starting outside Eden
RATING: Suitable for all ages, probably
STATUS: In Progress

It had been a few weeks now since the whole him and Buffy becoming their future selves thing and truth be told, Spike couldn't stop thinking about it. He had no intention of going out and ransacking the magic shop to find a way to become human, because Spike knew that all magic came with a price and he really didn't want to chance it; not this time anyway. Of course he was curious as to how he'd become human, because he didn't remember that bit, but considering the number of magic users he knew and the possibility that the Shanshu Prophecy was about him, it was only a matter of time before he found out exactly what it was that did it. Then of course there was the very real possibility that, that future would never actually happen. He accepted that fact and could live with it, if it never happened. After all, with the daylight ring that Willow had made him the year before, there really wasn't much that he couldn't do right now that he could if he was human. Of course, if the opportunity arose, he was almost ninety-nine percent sure that he would take it.

This whole thing had started him wondering if there were other vampires in town who would take the chance to be human again. That was why he was currently standing outside Eden, leaning against the wall in the back, near the employee entrance, a cigarette between his lips as he waited for Ashley. Spike had never really had friends before; informants, minions and lackeys, but not friends. The closest he'd ever come to having friends had been the Scoobies and really he had only ever tolerated the lot of them with the exception of Anya, who he actually genuinely liked aside from Buffy. And now there was Constantine, who he actually thought of as his best friend, which was something he'd never actually thought possible, and of course Ashley and even Faith. Sure, him and Faith were more like freenemies, but still, they went out to drink on occasion and didn't try to kill each other, so that was a start. A few years ago, where Spike wouldn't have cared less if any of those people vanished off the face of the earth, now he would genuinely be upset if any of them were sent home; just as he'd been recently with Dawn, Willow and Tara.

Taking a drag on his cigarette, Spike glanced at the door, unsure of exactly what time it was, but knowing that Ashley would be getting out soon.

Although it was a Thursday night and therefore not a weekend, it was hard to remember that when working security at a casino. The fact was, it didn't matter what day of the week it happened to be, there was always something going on that required her attention and, truth be told, Ashley wouldn't have it any other way. After all, there weren't many other jobs she could land that would let her bust heads for a living. At least, not legal jobs. And even with the illegal ones, the pay probably wouldn't be as good.

Of course, each shift also came with its fair share of challenges and this last one had been no exception. She had literally spent the last half hour teleporting about various parts of the building in an effort to catch a group of guys who had come in, hoping to pull off a rather elaborate scheme to scam the casino out of a good chunk of change. She had managed to round them all up, eventually, but suffice to say by the time she was clocking out for the night she'd done more than enough teleporting and had opted to walk home instead.

Which turned out to be a blessing in disguise, she quickly realized, when she exited and spotted Spike hanging around. The thought that he might be there to meet up with someone else seemed a little preposterous, considering she hadn't spotted anyone else inside that he spent all that much time hanging around, so she figured he was probably there to bug her. And that was fine in Ashley's book because, after the night she'd had, she could stand for a little distraction in the form of a snarky, sarcastic, bleached blonde vampire who gave her as much crap as she gave him in return.

"Hey there, roots," she greeted him as she made her way to where he'd been waiting. Ignoring the stink of his cigarette - a smell she'd at least learned to tolerate thanks to Constantine's habit of chain smoking more than the freaking Marlboro Man - she arched a brow and grinned. "What's up?"

Of course Spike had taken into consideration that Ashley might have opted to teleport home, which would have left him waiting there until dawn, but luckily his inability to call ahead worked in his favor tonight. Pushing himself away from the wall, he took a final drag on his cigarette and tossed it away as Ashley walked towards him, "Well there you are. I was beginning to think I'd have to go stalk the Sanctuary." He smirked, ignoring the barb about his hair, which a few years ago might have riled him up, but apparently that was another thing about having actual friends; now when certain people made comments on his hair, he knew they were only joking and he didn't feel the need to defend his choice of hair style so often. With the exception of Cordelia, but there it was expected. To tell the truth Spike actually looked forward to their verbal sparring, knowing that the drama queen could take it just as well as she could dish it out. Perhaps he was getting soft, but he really didn't care.

"Do you have some time or do you have to run home to Johnny Boy?" He asked, quirking a brow, "Then again, it's inventory week at the shop, isn't it? Chances are, your boy toy isn't even at home yet." Spike didn't plan to stay out and bug Ashley for too long; after all, Buffy was waiting for him back at their flat and he knew that she wasn't doing so well with Dawn being sent back so soon after they'd moved into Spike's place. Not to mention Willow and Tara, but he knew he wouldn't be able to quit thinking about this whole possible human future if he didn't talk to someone now and only another vampire would really understand. They may have been completely different types of vampires, but they were still vampires none the less.

Ashley snorted at his question, just barely refraining from rolling her eyes in an exaggerated expression of how ridiculous she found his question to be. "Uh, he and I are not exactly attached at the hip," she pointed out mildly. "So even if it wasn't inventory time, I still am under no obligation to run home." Which was, of course, the reason that her and Constantine's relationship worked as well as it did. Neither of them felt the need to get permission from the other when staying out late. A simple text more than sufficed, without any questions being asked or any insinuations being uttered. Considering the pretty epic dynamic that her parents had in their relationship, Ashley pretty much considered herself fortunate on a daily basis to not be in a situation where every single thing she did was open to scrutiny and, more often than not, judgment as well.

As though proving her point, or possibly simply because the mention of her boyfriend caused her to think about it for more than a casual second in mere passing, Ashley pulled out her PDA and sent a text to let him know she would be running a bit late. Once that was done, she slid her PDA back into her pocket then arched a brow at Spike. Her lips twitched slightly in amusement of the faintest sense as she asked, "Going out on a limb here but I take it you wanted to talk?"

Not that it took a rocket scientist to figure that much out. Even she could tell as much, despite the fact that she was in no way as intelligent as either of her parents, or any of the company they kept.

Spike knew the type of relationship that Ashley and Constantine had; after all he'd spent enough time with the two of them, both together and separately, to know that they didn't need to ask the other for permission or check in all the time, but he wouldn't be himself if he didn't mess with Ashley just a little bit when it came to her relationship. He waited until Ashley finished texting, who he assumed was Constantine, to speak, "Where ever did you get that idea?" He smirked and tilted is head slightly before taking a few steps, backwards, down the street as he pulled another cigarette from inside his coat as well as his lighter, "Shall we walk and talk? I know you're capable doing those at the same time." He put the cigarette between his lips, but didn't light it just yet.
