When she saw Wesley arriving, Kathy felt her palms begin to prespire and her heart thump even more quickly. Oh, Lord. Oh, goodness. This was it. He was there, approaching. And this was going to happen. Taking a deep breath, Kathy gave a small, hesitant smile, that quickly spread when he held out the flowers to her. "Oh, Wesley." She breathed. "They are lovely." Carefully she took the flowers from him and held them to her nose, more to partially hide her widening smile than any need to smell them. She always thought most flowers smelt funny anyway, but she did think they were quite lovely to look at. And more importantly, he had gotten her some.
She hesitated. What now? Mary, a friend of hers, claimed to have a male friend, a male friend in the sense that they held hands whenever their parents weren't looking. And he brought her presents and whenever he brought her presents she would kiss him. Kathy wasn't quite sure if Wesley would like her kissing him, so instead, she held out her hand, slowly, so if he liked .. maybe .. he could hold it.
