Who: Noah Bennet and Ellen Harvelle
What: A drink and talking
When: Backdated. Tuesday, February 14th. Evening
Where: Harvelle's
Status: In Progress

Noah had not been looking forward to Valentine's Day at all, because it only reminded him even more that Sandra was not there. It had been about four months now without his wife and he missed her more then he could possibly express. Sure, he was very happy to have his children around, getting to see Claire and Lyle on an almost daily basis on campus made it just a little bit easier and the fact that neither of them cared about being seen at lunch with a professor, who also happened to be their father, was even better, because he got the chance to catch up with them, which he wouldn't be able to do if they were at home. But the fact remained that his wife was not there and he wanted to simply skip right over Valentine's Day.

Not wanting to stay in his apartment alone, Noah made sure he had a loaded gun plus extra ammo and headed down to Harvelle's, keeping a close eye out for any zombies. He hadn't been in Colligo long, but considering the things he'd seen at home over the last year, the zombies and other things that had happened since he'd arrived, really didn't shock him in the least. Reaching Harvelle's, he went inside and took a seat at the bar. He might not have frequented bars very often back home and he still didn't in Colligo, but he did find himself coming by the Roadhouse on occasion after a long day of teaching to unwind, not to mention, he did enjoy talking to Ellen, because they both had children in the same circle so there were always things to talk about.

There wasn't a day that went by that Ellen didn't think about Bill. Every single day she thought fondly about how his laugh had always cheered her up, how the devotion he'd had for their daughter had made her know she'd picked the right man to be with, even how adorable he looked when he'd done something he shouldn't and was going to fess up to the fact. It never failed, rain or shine, no matter what else was going on, she thought about her late husband and how much she missed his impact in her life.

Every day, that is, except Valentine's Day. No, for the past few years, Ellen had done her best not to dwell on Bill's memory the fourteenth of February. Her reasons were varied but the main one was simply because it hurt too much. It was true that the day hadn't been a hugely special one for them - both had made a deal early on in their relationship to not make a fuss over a simple day of the year that wasn't their anniversary - but the fact that he was gone from her life was far more pronounced on a day were couples celebrated being together. And so Ellen had simply developed ways to keep him from her thoughts as much as possible until the day had passed and she could go back to quietly mourning in her own way.

It was easier to keep herself busy in Colligo, fortunately. There was always something crazy going on, always some kind of excitement to take her mind off of her troubles and let her focus on something - anything - else. This time around, there were zombies in the streets. True, Harvelle's wasn't overly busy because of it, but she had simply taken the free time from the bar to hang out on the roof and shoot as many of the bastards as she could.

Every so often, though, she came back inside to check on the few patrons present as well as grab some more ammo and, this time around, a bottle of booze to go with it. At least, that was her intention. The minute she saw Noah seated at the bar, though, she changed her mind and instead made her way over to him with a welcoming smile on her face. He was an all right guy and someone she considered a friend. Seeing as how she didn't have a whole lot of those, she was always glad to see the handful she did.

"Howdy stranger," she greeted him casually. Not that he hadn't been around recently, of course. It was simply one of her ways of saying hello that she'd never gotten around to changing even if her clientele had changed from Hunters-on-the-road back in her own reality to folks trapped in the same place, here.

"Hello, Ellen," Noah greeted her, glad to see her there that evening, "How are you tonight?" Ever since joining The Company, there hadn't really been anyone who Noah had called a friend, because of the nature of his job and the need to constantly lie to protect himself and his family, but here in Colligo, Ellen had become one of the first friends Noah had, had in ages. Now that Noah was nothing more than a normal, everyday, English teacher, his job wasn't quite as secretive as his job back home had been and that made the notion of making friends that much easier.

"Killed any zombies today?" Back home a question such as that probably would have earned him a look as if he had two heads, but Ellen had seen just as many odd things as he had where she was from and had been in Colligo for some time now, so as strange as it was, it was a legitimate question.
